Buy the service manual for 40 bucks and do it your self with basic hand tools. This is one of the easiest motorcycles to work on. Just follow the detailed instructions. Piece of cake. The HD service guys will charge you like 80 bucks an hour. Ridiculous! |

If my memory serves me correctly - I remember paying around $210 when I had it done on my '06 12Ss last summer. |

My maintenance service cost me the price of a shop manual and whatever parts I need at discount through our sponsors. You don't have to get maintenance work done on your bike at the dealership to get warranty work done later. The only thing they wouldn't cover is if you screw something up yourself. (for example cross-threading sparkplugs or something like that). |

My 1K service was free with the bike. You have to pay an up charge if you want to go with synthetic oil. |

Cost will vary depending on area. I paid $280 and it was the last service I ever had a dealer do. |

arm + leg. get the manual. Despite what the dealer may tell you...service at a dealer or using Harley brand fluids is NOT a condition of warranty. |

$400 at the Best Darn stealership in ohio. AD Farrow. Cough cough. The service writer had to get the special rate chart out for my Buell. I had to put up with his bitching about how hard buells are to work on. |

Wow. Some of you guys just got plain ripped off IMO. I got the first 1K mile service FREE with synthetic oil. I was told I'd have to pay for parts, but when I got there they said it was completely free. |

I just called 3 dealerships in the Seattle/Tacoma area. For a 1000 miles service on a 2007 Ulysses that want $425-$435! I have already done 3/4 of the work with the fluid changes. They want 3.5 hours at $95.00 an hour for labor. (Message edited by stewadi on May 11, 2007) |

Well, I will be at the dealer tomorrow, so we will see what the damage, if any, will be. I should have negotiated the 1K service when I bought the 9R, but like a little kid that finally got the toy he always wanted I was so damn excited. Next time. Oh, and I do have the manual and feel quite positive that I can do most if not all of the service, but since the bike is under warranty I want the 1K done at the dealer. |

Assuming you have the skills, desire and tools needed, find someone in your area with the VDSTS software and cable that will do the TPS reset. Do the rest yourself. Engine oil, trans oil and an oil filter should not be more than $75. That's if you buy the recommended thread sealer and drain plug o'rings. |

I just got my bike back from Eastside HD in Bellevue and it cost me $416.06 for the 5K service. (regular oil) I had them do my 1K and 2500 but I don't remember what the cost was. This was the most expensive one so far. Basically, they charge $125/hr. |

I think the o-ring and gaskets cost me a whopping 5 dollars. The oil and tranny fluid was about 35, and the manual was about 40. I changed the plugs my self for about 10 dollars, and had the dealer reset the TPS for about 45 dollars. 95 dollars an hour sucks and is a complete rip off. Your warranty will not be voided by doing the work yourself. Don't be afraid to get into your bike, get your hands dirty, and learn every nut and bolt, it will save you in the end! Part of the fun of a motorcycle is wrenching on it! |

I just had my 1k done at my dealership in Jacksonville, NC, They charge 260, but they give you a $50 discount certificate when you buy the bike, IMO it' still expensive, had I known the price I would have taken the time to do it myself. They gave me the same line, Buells are so hard to work on!! yadda yadda. Well lesson learned. |
