would it be the front fork springs and the rear shock? or are the forks totally different as in you can't put the lower spring in the normal tubes? someone please help. |

1. How much do ya want to drop it by? 2. How much do you want to spend? 3. How good do you need the suspension to perform? The expensive way is to take the bike to a suspension specialist, who will drop it as far as you want and set everything up so that it rides sweet (you will lose some clearance and banking remember). They will often change out your rear shock, front springs and probably tubes depending on what you want, then set it up with you. If you need things doing cheep then I hope you don't need to go far down - but it is possible. Let me know and I will see if I can help. ......Fulgur. |

or you just get the low suspension that is already made by buell and designed to work on it. with only minor changes (Message edited by no_rice on May 10, 2007) |

I swapped my firebolt suspension pieces and kickstand for a set of SCG (low) parts. It was a straight swap and both of us were happy. It dropped my seat height by just over an inch, and it's all factory parts. |

Yeah, I've got the low and a corbin on my 9r. I can now flat foot on the bike. |

What do you need to change on the Firebolt with the SCG parts? kickstand and rear shock for starters. Do you need to change the front forks or just slide the yolks (trippple trees) down the original forks? ......Fulgur. |

Easiest thing is to find someone to swap. Some guys just want a taller bike. Then, just swap out the stand, rear shock (whole thing) and each fork. Loosen the nuts on the triple tree and slide the old out and the new in. Sure, there is the mechanics of removing the front wheel, brake, etc. Pretty easy to do though. I changed mine out a few months ago. Jacked the bike up on an ATV lift and did the swap. |

Fulgar, there really is not enough room to "slide" the triples down the forks. There are also stopper rings on the forks to prevent that from happening. Buellfirebolt31, how low do you need to go??? |

IDK for sure. But do you need to change the lower triple tree? are the diameter of the r forks different of that of the scg forks? Brian, what all did you change and how low did it drop it? I think i'm looking like 2-3 inches. Possible? |

Looks like if you remove the stopper rings you can get them down another half inch, probably further. Usually most will want to go further than this though. Non of my other bikes have these ring things on the forks. Are they just there as a safety measure in case some bozo forgets to tighten the bolts? Once I get my engine back together I am thinking I will look into lowering it a bit, not high on my list of things to do at this time. Having to get new SCG parts (shock, stand and forks) sounds more expensive than getting a suspension expert to fit a new shock, springs, cut and weld the stand and set it up. 'Cause, if you get the parts gash thats cheep. ....Fulgur. |

I was able to find someone to swap parts straight across to lower my bike. Cost out of pocket: $0 for parts except for the gas money to drive a couple of hours on a saturday. If it hadn't been December in Missouri I could have ridden there and done the swap in about an hour. |

Diablobrain, Just wondering,Not sure you are into lifting the front end up in the air or not, But when I do on my 04 Firebolt it always lands nice and easy, on the wife`s 05 xbscg with the lower gear as yours has now, it always and always did hit hard coming down from a wheelie , Have you found that the lower gear hits harder coming down...? |
