After reading all those horror stories about kick-stands that fails and bikes falling to the ground, I am afraid that will happen to my bike so what can I do to prevent that from happening? |

The Buell sidestand is a funny beast. I try to park on level ground or with the wheel facing uphill gradually downward sloping from right to left and no wind. You have to roll the bike backwards to lock the stand. I think most of the problems stem from not getting it all the way engaged. |

Probably a good idea to park the bike with forks locked full left (like they teach you in the MSF beginner's course) too. |

Well i had the pivot bolt break on my last week. I pulled up to a gas pump and kicked the stand out and it went sliding across the concrete. Luckily I had not started to lean the bike on the stand yet. That was bad but the dealer was great. I live near Nashville so most dealers don't have a clue. I went to Bumpus in Murfreesboro and they didn't have one but one of the service guys rides a buell and he pulled one off of a new one in the back and gave(free) it to me. |

I had my kick stand bend. Of course it was after my sister backed in to My CityX. That may have had something to do with it. ;-> |

If the kickstand bolt breaks on my new Buell, the Harley parked next to it in my garage will catch it before it hits the floor. |

I cringe every time my little dog walks on the left side of any of my bikes. |

I just stock up on left foot pegs, and keep a few spare clutch levers hanging on the wall. I let mine idle itself off the kickstand at least once each summer, theory being, the bike is a slow learner, but if I am patient it will sooner or later figure out that it hurts falling over. |

Get some locktite and put it on the pivot bolt threads and you will never have a problem. Do this on all motorcycles no matter what brand. |
