My friend Erika was visiting today. She's from San Francisco and used to race semi-professionally (she used to have an all female road race team called "Rush Racing"). When she competed, it was on a Honda CBR600. She now owns a CBR929RR that she rode cross country several years ago. On this visit, she flew out so when I proposed we go riding, I lent her my Buell XB12Ss while I rode my Beemer. At the end of the day she was gushing over how much fun she had on the Buell! She even said she was thinking of getting rid of her Honda as she's getting older and just not comfortable on it anymore. She never considered a Buell before, but now...?

Everyone throws rocks at it until they actually ride one. Buells are the ghetto crack of motorcycles. One hit off the pipe, and you'd sell your kids for more. If you ride one and don't want one, you didn't inhale. |

You've got good taste in friends. And her liking your bike is icing on the cake. |

No, Erika's a "Bottle Blonde." As an aside, in 2005 I flew out to San Jose to attend the USGP at Laguna Seca. It was a last minute thing, and the closest hotel I could find was in San Jose itself. Erika was my guest, and she rode me each morning from San Jose to Laguna Seca on the back of her CBR. Lane splitting is legal in California and if it weren't for her not only would I have likely missed the races, I would've never made my plane in time to get back home! The experience gave me a new appreciation for what passengers go through on the back of sportbikes. My girlfriend is a REAL trooper for putting up with it! |
