Has anyone taken the hand guards off the XB9SX. I took my off the other day and realized that there is a riser on that bolt that keeps them on. I couldn't get it off. Does it come apart, or do I have to buy an XB12 bolt to hold on the levers? |

I ran into the same thing. I left mine on but I think you can get the bolts from a XB that do not have the stand offs. If you leave them on you will hardly notice them |

Yes you can get the regular bolts that came on the 9r / 12s/ 12r. If I were you I would sell the hand guards here and see if you can get the other bolts in trade. |

Yeah, what Tq_freak said. I went the other route and put cityX hand guards and the posts & screws required on my 12Scg. I no longer have my stock 12S screws but they're pretty inexpensive. |

They are useful, I suggest to leave the handguards in place! |

Nah, stock handguards suck. I bought a pair, installed them, ran 'em for awhile, took 'em back off and sold them. The amount of air the block is negligible, and they don't protect anything if you drop it (the outside edge just pops loose and your levers still get trashed). The only thing they're good for is deflecting the odd rock, and my race gauntlets handle those just fine. Waste of money, IMHO. I prefer the look without them as well. ~SM |

don't bother with the whole sell & trade thing. I removed mine and replaced the bolts with ones from a standard XB. They're only like $2 from your local dealer. |
