As I said in an earlier post let the spending begin. My finace' got an 07 Scg and she thinks that the clutch pull is too heavy (coming off a hydralic system). Does anybody have any experience with any of the clutch kits that may reduce the pull for her? that is ease of installation, effectivness, etc. I have checked out american sport bike a sponsor here for parts.Thanks | ||

I just got through reading all the posts from the search feature and it looks like the Mueller is one of the best and simplist to install with a minimum of maintenance issues (the reason I like Buells). I was not able to find out how to install it however. Can someone explain to me how it is done? thanks? | ||

'07 has the lightened clutch to start with so the Muller may be overkill(TOO light) you might also consider the Free Spirits soft clutch, a little simpler and will retain some feel at the lever while still making the pull easier. If you just had to go hydraulic, Al at American Sportbike has a nice kit $.02 | ||

The Muller Power clutch works great! I purchased one from American Sport Bike. It replaces the original ball ramp assembly that disengages the clutch. Like Damnut said, it only takes about 5 min to put in. It's a little pricey but I think worth it if you'd like an easy install to make the clutch easier to pull. IMHO I think the Muller and the '07 would be a perfect combination. | ||

I got mine on Ebay for about a little under 150 delivered. The Muller isn't a hydraulic system. It just replaces your ball ramp assembly. The Free Spirits one is good too but is tricky to get set up right. The Muller assembly is a breeze to set up, EXACTLY like the stock one. IMHO the Muller is better than the Free Spirits. I believe that Al from American Sport Bike uses a Muller and the Hydraulic set up on his bike. IMHO you can never have a clutch pull that is too easy. | ||

Yup get the muller unit, WAY less hastle to adjust. I've tried them both and the Muller is the way to go... | ||

Do a google search for the Custom Chrome Clutchlite, it is a replacement inner clutch ramp. It's the same principal as the Mueller but costs much less. I just got one and will be doing the install next week. The part looks well made and heavy duty. It comes in soft, x soft, and xx soft. I got the soft. | ||

MSR Pro Raptor lever assembly. 39.95 Short stubby lever that has 3 different pivot attachment points and a swivel cable mount that eliminates side load on the cable. Made a huge difference in traffic for my Uly.  | ||

In addition to the Muller unit, Al at American Sportbike also has a nifty hydraulic clutch kit for XBs. The only draw back is that hydraulic clutch won't work with the Buell O.E.M. hand guards due to the lever. So those with a CityX or a Uly or a TT or any one who bought hand guards as an accessory (like me) would have to remove them. (Message edited by metalstorm on May 05, 2007) | ||

I would guess that it would fit just about any bike. I bought one for my xr650l motard and it has been great for over a year now. HD/Buell used a different method of clutch cable adjustment. All I had to do was loosen the lock nut on the cable and run the adjuster all the way in and lock it there. Back off the clutch adjustment behind the clutch inspection cover. Drill out the raptor adjuster so the Uly cable will fit in (not sure if thats needed for the firebolt). Once everything is together, adjust clutch as normal. Adjust cable slack on the raptor and ride baby. I wish they did sell a short matching brake lever, I am in the market for one baaad. | ||

Lots of folks deal with it, it's not bad at all, even in traffic. If you work with you hands at all, you should have no problems. If you need to waste money on an easier pull:  This is my first street bike so maybe I am more accepting??? Cord Buncha Sallies   | ||

I have a visitor called "Arthur Ritus" in the left thumb joint. It disturbs my 8 to 10 hour rides. I at one time used the hand things but that was in the 70's when the clutch was inded stiff. | ||

As a bonus (even though a lighter clutch is nice) I think an extended clutch ramp gives better "feel" as well. ....Fulgur. | ||

I read that the 06s or 07s got lighter clutches. My hand bothered me the day after I rode my Buell all day long for the first time. Since then I've never had a problem and my wrist hasn't really gotten tired unless I'm holding in the clutch at a long red light. My throttle hand gets much more tired when riding my Honda 50, no lies. Of course, when I ride my 50 I'm usually on the back wheel playing with the throttle to keep up the wheelie. |
