Junkyard hunting today was pretty cool.Didn't find the Camry parts I needed, but found a perfecto door, and quarter panel for my 89 prelude I damn near trashed three years ago. I'm sure $150 will take um both! |

Thought I'd share Carlee's other passion - horses! She took blue ribbons in poles and barrels!

Took the Blast out today after its oil change. It's been sounding a little loud, so I've been looking for loose exhaust components, but everything has looked fine. Until I stopped for gas.
That doesn't look right.
Neither does that. I will note that that is NOT the stud that Mark and I helicoiled. At least this one will be easier to drill... |

Man Jim - That is a bummer. I know Sporty Mark can help, but if he is busy, Webe Mark is quite handy at that stuff as well. If anyone is looking for a good deal on a Blast I found one in the back of Shelton's today. I went in the back to take a look at the Uly and Mark called me over to show that they still had his '05 Superglide. He a little misty eyed looking at the HD and I the same looking at my Uly, I looked around and saw this Blast. An '05 Blast - Blue with 650 miles. $3,000. I think that is fair. There is nothing that a good ride can't cure. It's the end of the semester and I have been finishing projects, assignments and now Finals. The plan was to stay in and study. I did that yesterday, but today I just had to ride. Mounted the M2 and rode off to meet Webe, Webe's BG and family. After lunch (thanks guys, didn't have to do that) Webe and I rode off to Shelton's to see if we could acquire a Harley bag that they were giving away with the test ride. That was unsuccessful but as I mentioned above I did get to see the Uly. After Shelton's we decided to head to New River. Never quite got there but we were close, riding the roads just northwest of Jacksonville that are so much fun. We had to get back so we meander back toward Richlands then K-town. Fun day all in all, a much needed 200 mile ride. |

It's fixed! It's amazing what a little experience can do. After I took those pictures, I took the muffler off the bike, drilled out the stud, got a new stud from Mark, and tapped and installed a helicoil. It's a lot less intimidating the second time. I left the muffler off the bike because the paint is coming off, and I either need to repaint it or coat it. I'll call HPC in the morning and see if they can coat at the NC location. If they can I'll do that. If not it gets another coat of BBQ paint. Mark taught me to safety wire. When it goes back on, I won't have any more issues with loose nuts. |

Mark taught me to safety wire. When it goes back on, I won't have any more issues with loose nuts. What about the loose nut behind the bars? You know, the one that can't be safety wired... 1313 |

weird... On that note tried the taller shocks, they sort of work, they run into the exhaust something awful, woudl need about another inch of space on the exhaust to accomadate anything longer than a 13 inch shock. Thining I can notch the exhaust and bend it then have it re-welded. |

Sporty - I talked to LaFayette on the phone a little while ago. He put a XB12 primary sprocket on his blast. It takes it from 34 to 38 teeth, which should give you about 11 mph on your top end. You just need the XB12 primary chain and sprocket. It bolts on. He even gave me part numbers if you want them. |

We lean bikes, she leans horses.
See how she is looking through the next turn. That's okay as long as the land is flat between the turns. 1313 - Getting help from beyond again? |

That is great news Jim, did he give any more details of the swap? or maybe cost? sounds liek a plan, i think that and the XB head we can take the record in teh class. |

Mark, I do not know the cost, but you can post in the "Andy I need it now" thread and get a quote. I know that American Sport Bike sells a kit to convert the Uly to the XB9 sprocket for $120. I would expect it to be less than that if you order the stuff directly. My understanding is you just bolt the stuff on. You have to pull off the transmission cover, so whatever gaskets that requires to reassemble would also be needed. BTW, LaFayette has an XB transmission cover on his blast. He says it bolts directly on but has one extra screw hole. He JB welded a screw head in that hole. In addition to the inspection port, that gets you a better primary chain adjuster. |
