Dilemma, real big one. I have recently seen the new Ducati 1098, with 160 ponies and sod all weight. Almost a pony per Kg - WOW. Well after talking to the Ministry of Finance (partner) I have been informed. YES you can have one. BUT First you have to sell your Buell, can't have 2 bikes or 3 if your counting my Triathlon bike (Carbon Trek) very nice. So do I sell my Buell and purchase a new RED DUCATI 1098, it's one nice machine. |

Before you take the plunge on a Ducati you may want to check into parts $$, service $$$ and service intervals. There is no doubt that a Ducati IS a sweet bike (I had a 916), but is it a realistic (real world) riders bike? |

NO CONTEST Sell it and enjoy 3rd gear power wheelies. (I plan on doing the same thing next summer) Most of the 07's are sold so you may HAVE to wait for an 08 unless you spring for the funky multi color for what 35k. |

Put it this way...If you were given the choice of these two bikes for FREE, which would you choose? There's your answer. 1098 |

I'm still hoping that July will be the dawn of a new (performance wise) era in Buell history. It's time for Erik and the Elves to break the rules again and build what no one expects. |

Me too. The 2008 model year is Buell's last chance. YES 1340cc air-cooled DOHC V-twin YES 6-speed gearbox YES Ohlins suspension YES Brembo brakes YES Marchesini wheels NO new colours NO bits of plastic NO dirt bikes |

I put 100+ miles on one last weekend. It's worth the money. |

If you had no labels to tell you otherwise the 1098 looks like an evolution of the firebolt. At least from the front. |

totally awesome, I have just discovered I can lease to buy through work, pay with pre-tax $$$$$ on a NOVATED BIKE LEASE. Includes all Servicing, Insurance, Registration and a Fuel card. At the end of the lease I can buy out right on the residual value. or upgrade to newer model. The company states they will better any sales price and better any interest rate. So I guess when your paying up to $25,000 in tax each year, why not put it to good use. |

I would love to have a 1098 but not if it was to be my only bike. I don't think I could use it for every day street use & keep my license. It would absolutely have to be a second "romping around" bike. As long as I remain a street only rider (no track days yet) I'll keep my Buell as my only bike. |

"YES 1340cc air-cooled DOHC V-twin YES 6-speed gearbox YES Ohlins suspension YES Brembo brakes YES Marchesini wheels NO new colours NO bits of plastic NO dirt bikes" YES, that would cost a fortune. Heck, If Buell is selling this lump and component combo for almost 11 grand, with all those goodies mentioned above, the bike would cost 20 grand. No way! As for the 1098, I would definitely go for one of those if I wanted a 14grand motorcycle. Not now, I'm happy knowing that my 6grand bike (what I paid for and 04 with 1200 miles) won't break the bank if I dump it. I might consider a 898 or whatever they're going to call the new 749 replacement. probably around 11 or 12 grand. |
