Just went to the hog site and saw this, so I assume it’s a yes. “Full members: Have your H-D® or Buell® VIN number handy.” |

>i do not want to socialize with "them" lots of good folks in HOG, but with that attitude they won't want to socialize with you either. > i just want the Roadside Assistance plan >HOG offers. join the AMA instead. They have a good plan and you won't have to associate with folks you don't like. |

Hmm. . .That hurts man. I'm a HOG member. I own a Harley. I also own a Buell. I ride my Buell to HOG meetings. I've even taken it on our chapter rides. I love the way it irritates the old guys. I also preach to the HOG chapter about Buell stuff. I would love to socialize with you. I've been trying to get more Buell owners to join our HOG chapter. Harley Davidson says they are welcome, I tend to agree. But the old guys won't welcome them if I'm the only one talking. Sure would be nice to have some help. Let me know if you ever want to socialize with "them", I'll be the first one you hear from. And if you're asking me, join HOG, get the roadside assistance program (it is good for up to 2 bikes per membership, my wife & I have all 4 of ours between the 2 of us). Then go irritate your local HOG chapter, it's more fun than you think. I mean, isn't that one of the reasons we ride Buells? p.s. - why doesn't the forum spellchecker recognize "Davidson"? |

On another note, my local dealer (Destination HD/Buell) gives you 1 year free membership in HOG when you buy a new or used Harley or Buell motorcycle. I'm still wondering where those Buell guys went, I see the bikes leave the showroom. I never see the rider after that. |

Terribletim, I know what you mean. I've never met another Buell rider since buying mine six months ago. Maybe not surprising since there are only about 50,000 Buells ever made. Some manufacturers produce that many per month! |

I think you are right. I saw something about that in my AMERICAN IRON MAGAZINE! |

My local dealership always asks me if I'm a HOG member when I'm in there buying oil or whatever for my RoadKing or the Buell. If you attend the Hog meetings you can get a discount (10% ?) on P & A. Sounds like a good deal, but I'm not a member. Even after 35+ years of riding H-D's, I still am uncomfortable with that vest and all those pins and patches! AL |

Well now that BRAG is kinda gone, time to go join the HOG club and piss off all the old Harley guys that hate sport bikes! I had my bike at the HD shop for inspection, I was standing at the counter when a couple of HD guys walked by and the one said "there's one of those god damn hot rod bikes" It made me smile all day long. |

I get that a lot Busterx, and I smile too! Some HOG chapters have a deal with the sponsoring dealer that members get 10% off P&A, not labor. My chapter does not. It's a per chapter/dealer deal. I say if you can, take advantage of it. And smile knowing that the HOG chapter discount is going to your Buell that they hate! But I have to say, a large number of my chapter actually like my Buell, I think they are just scared to actually ride one (or be seen on one maybe?). Part of that "breaking the norm" problem they seem to have. |

I went to the HOG tent in Laughlin to get the free swag and handed the lady my Brag card. She looked at me and said that "this won't work, it's not a HOG card" I told her to just swipe it and bet her that it would. "What do you know," she said, "I've never seen one of these before." She then proceeded to show everyone under the tent. I told her not to worry she'll probably never see another one again. I guess it'll be easier to get the rally pin with the HOG card next time. |

I have had nothing but good relations with 'Harley' riders. Most of them come over and look at my bike and compliment on how nice it is. I'll own a Harley cruiser one day but the way I see it my Buell is a Harley sportbike...just my .02 |

if they want ride with us, they can expect hours of chrome cleaning Actually my HOG and BRAG numbers are EXACTLY the same. I still carry both in my wallet. Problem with the HOG is that our local wont let non brand , non club members go on rides, which makes our sport bike nites difficult. |

Brian - Our chapter has both open and closed rides throughout the year. On the closed rides only HOG chapter members are allowed, but those chapter members can ride any bike. The open rides allow anyone to join, but you have to be a "guest" of a chapter member. Again, that rider can be on any bike. The hope is to show them the fun they could be having on a Harley, and maybe increase sales for our dealer and membership of the chapter. The big problem I find on rides with mixed bike types is the Harley or "cruiser" guys want to go slow and look around, the sport bike guys just want to tear it up and carve some asphalt. Two riding styles that really have no place next to each other. |

Haven't met one in six months? I've had mine seven years now and have run into one the whole time I've owned it and that was at a local bike night. I don't know what I'd do if I ran into one out riding one day. My brother (%&^% Suzuki rider) said he saw a pretty co-ed getting on one on UK's campus. So they are out there. I really have nothing against Suzuki, I just give him a hard time about rice. |

Amen! Same thing with my neighbor and his Kawasaki! I see other Buells from time to time. But they are always going the other direction, and I can't figure out how to get up over that jersey barrier! |

I just bought a XB9SX yesterday and they gave me a free membership to HOG because the didn't know what Harley was doing for Buell people. So the answer to the question is YES |

Good to hear I'm wrong with the 50k and it's really 100k, but that's still nix in the order of things. Maybe we Buell riders don't really want to meet others as silly ourselves? Just joking. I think? |
