I've read bad weather for years but I'am only now posting.. I have a question perhaps some one can help me with. I was informed that I could run a daytona twin tec 1005s ign. mod. in my 02 x1. after rebuilding the motor time cam to install and found that this is not a plug and play item. which is fine. but the issue is the schematic and the instructions differ so much. so can any one here possibly have some insight? thanks |

Not sure about the XL motor, but I put a TwinTec singlefire on my Evo FLH. Completely bypassed all the wires from the bike except the one for switched power. Wired it to a S/E singlefire coil. IIRC there was a white wire (ground), a purple wire and a red wire (the cylinders, pickup to coil). The red and purple were reversed from pickup to coil, so hooking red pickup to purple coil and purple pickup to red coil worked out. I think the purple also doubles as the computer hookup if you're custom mapping it. If you have any problems, give TwinTec a call. The guys out there are great, they can walk you thru it no problem. (A factory X1 manual is pretty much indispensible at this point, too - so you know where to tap in for power, tach, etc). |
