You need a VDST from Al. Or, you need to know somebody that has one. Your dealer will also do it for about $35 in most places.

I paid my ignorance tax last weekend, but once I understood the process it's pretty simple. There are several good posts if you search. I'll keep an eye on this thread if you decide to do it yourself.

If you got the discontinued Buell race pipe and the ECM you are going to love it. See my earlier post "A Uly Transformed",

I'd like to know how to do this as well. My bike is surging at low rpm and idling roughly and The pipes are very blued around the heads. Is this a TPS problem?

Hi David. How long have you had your bike? Blueing around the header end of the pipes is typical for these bikes. I ride with two other Uly owners and all our pipes are discolored and blue. Some people like the look and others have powder coated the pipe for a cleaner look.

I got the VDSTS diagnostic software through a HD dealer for about $190.00. The link to the site that manufactures the kit is http://www.technoresearch.com/.

Do a search under surging or power surge and see what comes up. I'm not sure this is indicative of the need for a TPS reset but it could be. Maybe someone else could shed some light on this.

Thanks for the info Oraneulius. I know some blueing is going to happen. I had an S-1 and it did the same thing but, this seems bluer than most.
I'm getting ready to install a special Ops. muffler which will hook up my servo again. I'll see if that helps.
thanks again Guys.

I still believe the surging at low RPM's, sensitive throttle input and rough running in the low RPM range was cured with the 2007 airbox and ECM remap. I had a couple TPS resets and it fixed none of those issues, but the 2007 lid and remap did. Actually the lid alone fixed the issues and the remap fixed the low MPG after the new lid.

Back on topic, Cavi you will need a TPS reset if you put the race ECM on. The instructions on how to do it come with the VDSTS software. Otherwise you'll have to get the bike to the dealer with stock ECM or by trailer and then swap it in the parking lot and have them do the reset there.

Can a dealer sell a VDST to a customer? If so, what is the Buell part number? It would be nice to have one handy.

Thanks.

WTF? I posted a link to a VDST dealer above who also happens to be a sponsor of this fantastic forum.

Agreed, Great product and even better service. Al's stuff is top shelf. He's a VT guy too.

Just to clarify, the dealers don't use VDSTS. Harley has there own software tool that they use on the bikes. It also allows them to do the ECM flashes and what not. You cannot buy that system. VDSTS is what we as home mechanics have access to that will allow you to do most of the functions that you will need. Purchase VDSTS from Al using the link above.

Easy on the "WTF?" there jack. I was asking if a dealer could sell it and NOT who is a dealer for the unit. I've bought from Al, he's great. I get a great deal from my dealer, so I was just checking. Jmhinkle answered my question. Thank You.

So...when I finish installing my special Ops pipe, race ECM, K&N Filter and air box modification the ecm will need to be remapped and the TPS reset? I'm so stupid when it comes to electronics. Thanks for your help guys. Is there anyone close to me....(Tacoma WA. Area) that has the program to do the TPS and ECM mapping and reset?
