After months of procrastinating, and a general lack of time to do the work myself, I have decided I will take the S3T to the dealer to replace to rockerbox gaskets. What kind of $$$$ am I looking at? Do you think they'd give a price quote over the phone? My dealer is HD of Danbury. |

IIRC the gasket kit is about $55 (do both, the gaskets are better now). Labor? Should be around an hour a head, worst case. They *should* be able to give an estimate over the phone; worst case they'll have to dig out the warranty labor book and mark it up from there based on the "usual" percentage (the factory is STINGY on labor, most dealers use it as a basis for COD labor but mark it up to match reality - i.e. tools not laid out already, parts not laid out already, etc., like they would HAVE to be in order to get a job done under "warranty time"). |

She's going in in 10 days for surgery. Service guy ballparked it at 300-400 dollars. He sounded very busy but courteous so I doubt he looked it up in the book. I can't wait to get the 'bolt back on the road. |

Move over to Germany and I will do that job for 200 Joking apart,400 is overpriced ,IMO. A well versed mechanic shouldn't need more than about 1 hour for that job. Ralph |

I expect it to cost less. He did say it was a ballpark figure. I'll be happy with 200-300. |

My rear rockerbox is leaking -- picked up the parts to both front and back jugs - It looked to be a fairly easy job that I could tackle myself -- or is that just wishful thinking? |

You'll have to cut down an Allen wrench for tool clearance and if you're a stickler for torque specs, you may not be able to get torque wrench on every single fastener, but other than that, it's clear sailing. I would put a rag or something over the 'well' where all the hoses and tubes dive into the engine case. I dropped an Allen wrench in there and had to buy a telescoping magnet to get it back out. Fun, fun. |
