I grew up in Tempe. Have not seen it since '75 and a everything has changed. I'm sure there will still be lots of bikes and lots of babes. There be twisties as you go out to the lakes along the river (east).

look in the storm fronts, there are two threads dedicated to Arizona.
there are alot of Buell riders there, along with alot of riders of other brands that get together and ride.

As far as good places to ride:

1) south mountain is always fun, great views
2) The road out to Tortilla Flats out on the east side is fun, and the Flats has good food.
3) the road out to the salt river canyon, ride out US 60 to globe, and stay on 60 until you hit the canyon. Lots of curves, and spectacular views.
4) The beeline hwy up to Payson, and then hwy 260 up to Showlow. This is a nice all day ride.
5) Out to Wickenburg, and then up over Yarnell Pass and down to Prescott.

I left there two years ago, the city has changed alot in the last 10 years.
The surrounding cities are now suburbs, The loop around the city still doesn't go all the way around the city, traffic sucks, and they have red light cameras and speed traps all around Scottsdale... Beware!
It's still a fun place to be in the winter, I choose to avoid it in the summer. To frickin' hot for me!

Good luck!

What Bartimus says is good stuff.

All kinds of shopping in the Chandler area now. Gilbert is a cool little town.

Mill Street in Tempe is spectacular for bird watching. Arizona State is in the neighborhood.

Chandler HD and Arrowhead HD, both are part of the infamous Arizona Motorsports Group who has changed their name to Ride Now of something like that. Hacienda HD is in near by Scottsdale (another spot for bird watching).

There used a bunch of Bueller's who used to rides from Chandler HD. I haven't looked at the Arizona site in BadWeb in a long time. I would bet they are still getting together.

I am in the far west valley, don't get to the east valley very much.

If you like high end restaurants and clubs, you'll like Scottsdale. There is place named the Billett Bar in old town that is a kick in back side for watching bikers of all types going nuts.

The road to Cave Creek, another bike destination, great road to a lake, who's name escapes at this time, has trap that bikes with loud exhaust, will ticketed. It is a town named Carefree, that is not even close to what the town is.

It does get a little hot in the summer, but it is a dry heat.

The best place for Buell parts is still Appleton HD even with DaveS gone, or any of the sponsors for this site.

I do have a hook up a independent HD guy (who rides a Buell among of his many other bikes). The guy is a great wrench, if you want to get away from the stealership type of mechanics.
