If you're not looking for a unit for a restoration, go with the Cycle Electricâ„¢ unit with the built-in regulator. I put one on my '68 shovel that I used to have and it made a HUGE difference! I had the stock system with the mechanical regulator and it would tend to drain the battery if I rode at night for a while, also the battery didn't ever seem to have the juice to start the bike easily when the bike was cold. I went thru batteries with monotonous regularity, plus I tried a new stock generator or 2. I got one of the Cycle Electricâ„¢ generator units and I had NO more trouble. The battery started to last and I always had the juice for starting and the lights were bright and stayed that way. No more 'boiling out' of the battery, too, as before it seemed I was adding dist. h2o to the battery weekly. They are pricey, but $ well spent, IMO. What are ya putting it on? AL |

Its for a guy I work with. I believe he has a 63 or 64 chopper. His generator is fried so I told him I would post on here to see if anyone had one for sale. He is looking into the cylce electric, but doesnt have that kind of money right now. Just wants to get riding until he can afford that one. Thanks for the info. |
