Fellow Buellers, I have been away on military orders for quite a while and as a result my bike hasn't been started in about six months. It is a 2006 CityX with only a few hundred miles. I want to get back into riding heavily this season, and more specifically TOMORROW!! Is there anything I need to do or check before I ride? I don't want to do anything to harm my bike or myself. As always, thanks in advance for your knowledge. Double |

I guess the big question is, what did you do to put it up? Raise it off the tires? cover the bike/tires? Drained the fuel? changed the oil? |

Unfortunately...none of the above. I wasn't planning on being gone as long as I was. Didn't raise it off the tires, cover, or drain/change any fluids. Should I just take it to the dealer for some sort of "service"? |

An engine and primary oil change would be a good idea... Was it in any kind of climate controlled environment? Was it at least in a garage? If so, it's probably fine, though it may need a battery charge, just change the fluids. If it was outdoors, change them before you start and ride it. If it was in a garage, you could probaly ride it to the dealer, no problem. IMHO of course. |

Double, My bike sat for nine months... I was just on mid-tour leave. Here is what I did: Changed all the oils, added some fresh gas, and hooked-up / charged battery, and air in the tires. In about 4 hours I was riding again! Of course I just put it away for another 6 months but it sure was fun while it lasted! |

Yeah, what they said. Your battery will probably be low so pull it and trickle charge it. DO NOT LET THE BIKE CHARGE IT! Do the fluids to. |

So let me put it to you like this....would it be advisable to ride the bike to the dealer which is less than 10 miles away, or just trailer it up there? Thanks for your help. |

Save your money, just change the fluids, charge the battery, and air up the tires. Make sure the gas smells ok too. |
