Not to hijack the thread but how much taller is a 9sx compared to a 9s and 9sl? I have an 03 9sl and I love the way it feels and rides. |

Another thing that strikes me is - Buell discontinued the XB9R - here in Europe - I wonder if they intend on doing the same with the 9sx in the near future ? Unless they bring out an XB9RX ? If they don't - what does the future hold for the 9sx - I don't see where the market is for the 9sx since the Super TT came out. Infact - if you read up on the Supper TT on the buell site - they are practically selling in the same words as the city cross but more aggressive. The ULY serves the off road rider ( and taller body ..) The Super TT seems to also serve the off road rider with city spins also. The 12s models seem to suit all general streetfighters - tall, medium & short. Im sure the 9sx suits the rougher city rider but then why not just go for a super TT ? Infact if you goto the Buell site & read up on the Super TT - they are practically selling it in the same way as the city cross but more aggressive. I guess this is going off topic slightly - but do chime in - its a rocking thread. (Message edited by moondust on April 10, 2007) |

Admittedly - I don't like the look as much as say a cherry bomb or midnight black but you can take those side plastics off & either change the plastics or get them designed. Afterall that seems to be the Buell way - they give you the canvas & you paint - right ? The custom XB's here are awesome - I wonder what a bling'd / pimped up TT would look like - Im sure its the devil in sheep's clothing.I can imagine all black - it would look like mad max.. |

I test rode a 9R & 9S a lot & loved them both. I liked the S more in the really tight turns. Power was good. Agility was bar none. But.. Coming from a Sportster (883 converted to 12) I found the 12Scg to be more natural. The extra grunt has the advantage of getting around tourists and away from danger quicker. |

"I havent seen one in person but I dont like the TT... I wasn't a big fan of the TT myself... just another tarted up XB, to me. But the really fast guys in N. Georgia seem to feel that's the bike they could go faster on in the mountains. It really made me look at the bike again. |

I've seen a TT in person and those big white plates remind me of my old suzuki tm250 motocross bike. I just traded my 99 X1 lightning for a 07 XB12R and I love it.I'm 5'9' 270lbs and can lift the front tire through all 5 gears speed shifting without pulling on the bars. This bike has all kinds of pull. The lean angle to the bars is modest compared to the rice burners(I also had a zx7r last summer)and have rode it comfortably for over 100 miles without stopping. Would have gone further if I had a longer range on a tank of gas. |

I would take the $ difference between the 12 and the 9 and add upgrades to the 9, like a micron muffler, performance air filter, custom ECM map, and VDSTS software for TPS resets. That would make me more happy with the performance of the 9 (dead even with a stock 12) and give my 9 some personality. My thoughts exactly. that's what i did based on advice i gathered from those in the know and i'm immensely happy with the result. |

Had they had the TT when I had the jones-in for a Buell I would have got that instead. The bigger fuel tank, taller ground clearance, larger displacement, longer swing arm.... damn, now waiting on the dirt bike for the next Buell |

There may well be a subliminal reason for the TT as well. I was at the dentist office the other week and picked up a motocross rag from the rack. Front to back full of dirtbikes and they all had number plates. The TT could just be one incredibly executed segue into their upcoming dirts. |

CityXslicker - Judging by your pic , It looks like the super TT or even ULY is more your bag. Im not sure the the city X suits too much dirt & baggage. Im starting to think the larger displacement would def be a plus when it comes to passengers or baggage. Xbullet - have you tried a 12 in anyway ? I betcha if you put the micron system on a 12 - you'd be even happier - like i said - I've ridden both now to the point where I can't believe anyone would choose a 9sx over 12 if they could help it. Like I mentioned - Im starting to think the super TT is the new city X in the future. It has all the trimmings for a perfect rugged streetfighter & is only $1400 more than the city X. Over here in London - the city is fine as - you can't get above 40mph in the city but when I hit the Motorway - that larger displacement should be a little nicer on the ride. If the TT was better styled - I'd buy one but the scg is too good looking not to ( personally ) |

Moondust -- check out americansportbike.com and their exhaust shootout. the 9 makes 95 horses with the micron, k&n, and the remap from al. that's what i did. the 12 only makes 96! with the same setup, i payed less for my bike, less for insurance, got the look i wanted, and get only 1 less horse? i'm stoked. i've logged miles on several 12's, and there's nothin' wrong with that bike. but for my ridin' style and pocketbook, my 9sx is where it's at.
i would like to add that this bike is just as at home in the north georgia mountains as it is doin' 80-120 on the long road to florida. it is also finely suited for dodging cages in atlanta rush hour traffic in any direction from downtown. she's seen all of that. AND.... she's so purty! (Message edited by xbullet on April 10, 2007) |

MOOnDust, the 29 inch inseam keeps me from the ULY, and I have too much into my Cityx to be looking at the TT, but if I could do it all over again, tt |

Wow. I'm stunned by all you big guys - 6" and 200lbs plus who think the 9 has enough power. I'm only 5'7" and 155lbs soaking wet and I would never say the 12 had enough power IF I was more experienced. Maybe the 9 just delivers it differently? |

it does. it's all USABLE power. that's the key. IL-4's have 150-190 horses at 1000cc, but it's not all usable until you rev to 10,000 and/or get up to 150mph. buells don't do 150. (at least 90% of them don't.) but the power is delivered all the way there. that's the big difference. roll through a corner side by side with another bike and then roll the throttle. you'll see. |

07xb12scg - "Wow. I'm stunned by all you big guys - 6" and 200lbs plus who think the 9 has enough power." Talk about short and fat! That was too funny! Is that a reference to a person or just a part? Sorry, I couldn't resist! |

Well - I've just officially picked up my brand new 12scg in Black ! I can confirm its a different ride to the 9sx & I love it ! especially with a drummer - it just feels awesome! granted, the City X was a hoot but the 12scg just gets down to business - it feels alot more comfortable on the motorway & that grunt is just huge - I can feel the force now ! Its not something I can really compare to the 9sx - it is 100% two very different machines with the same frame & cosmetics. I haven't had a chance to let rip yet as Im gently breaking her in. The city X ( with stock can) felt lighter & zippier almost slightly japanese in flavor, BUT the 12Scg feels more how I remember my previous Ducati Monster 900 - just brute force & heavyweight but with the same handling as the City X ( the Drummer helps of course ) but it just really suits me to tee - I love it ! I much prefer the handlebars & the riding position fits like a glove! it rocks! |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG76ftSFOcg Its not all horsepower or top end. Gearing and clearance are just as important. Riding the City-X like a ULY, loving every minute of it. |

Fun stuff! cityxslicker, its a different ride for sure - to me im starting to see that the 12s models seems more suited for typical road riding & the Uly & TT would suit the off-roader for sure. I def wouldn't like to go on that trail with my scg - thats for sure.. |
