I researched these pretty heavily just because they were interesting. I wouldn't worry so much about them being retreads... they use some pretty hi-tech Xrays to scan every tire for flaws once they're finished. I'd be more concerned about the fact that every review (even the ones posted on their site!) give Tomahawks a mediocre score in the grip department, and one poor rating in wet conditions. That, and the front tires all seem to be much heavier than normal tires, which has a bad effect on handling. I like the colors, though.  ~SM | ||

Lots of threads on this subject somewhere on the site. Color looks like crap up close, many irregularities. Might be fun, but not high quality. | ||

Good wear, handled fine, Traction is fine in rain and dry traction is good not like pilot powers but you can take them to the edge. Heavy, inexpensive. | ||

Im useing a pair of silver tomahawk tires right now I got the defect ones for $90 a piece and I live near the factory so I didnt have to pay shipping as far as cost Id like to see that beat, as far as quality... my bike sat for 2 months with the tires on and they got tarnished, by air or water? not sure but they turned from silver to orange/brown. now that Im back to riding all the time they look grey with a pronounced chicken stripe because of the drastic color change. the web site says you can wash them to get back to origanal color but I found that to be less than true. I got the defects because I wanted to try them out with out paying full price but after putting about 1000 miles on them I think some pirellis would look just as cool and would peform alot better, also I am not as confident in the rain with them and Im not sure if thats because the feel different or if it was the negative post about wet weather performance I read thats making me nervous. So far no problems and my only complaint is the pronounced chicken stripe but thats just me being vain ( probably also the reason I bought colored tires vanity). so if you want outrages color tires for a vacu-sealed trailer queen I say go for it and if you want tires that are diferent but will keep up with performance needs than get some thing else. My son has one on the rear of his CBR600RR, he likes to do burn outs so there great for that purpose. He says they hold well but they are heavier because they have more tread depth and they usually require more weight to balance. One other note is they use different cores from different manufactures so you might have 2 different cores which would or could effect the handling. Ditto on the you get what you pay for. | ||

Had a set on my Uly for a 1000 or so miles. Took 11 weights to balance the rear wheel. Made the front end wobble a little at 100+mph. The final straw was coming home from my business partner's house in the rain. I had zero traction. Every turn at a traffic light the back end was fishtailing. Truly a butt clinching experience. Got online and ordered new tires as soon as I got home. | ||

They were put on mine by the previous owner. I hate them. There are weights all over my rims and they look like sh!t after a while because of discoloration. The handling isn't horrible, but they are certainly not smooth. | ||

Oh yeah, and I agree with Aeholton about the wet weather traction. I had to accelerate very slowly leaving every stoplight, and have not ridden in the rain since. | ||

Tomahawk tires fit a specific category: tires for burnouts and stunting (that are cheap to replace). If that's what you are looking for in a tire, that's the one to get. If I had a dedicated stunter, I'd give them a roll... only in black though. I don't know... maybe blue, too. Did anyone know that when tires where first invented, they were white? Tires only became black when carbon was added to the natural rubber they used to make tires out of. Black tires were 'bling' at the turn of the century. | ||

I don't know if I would trust those type of tires for hard riding but for general zinging around town you could probably get away with it. Lithium motorsports has Pilot Powers for just a little more money. The Shinkos (previously know as Yokohama) work just fine for me. However, my days of rolling rubber over the side of the tire tread, on the street, are way over. I am plenty happy keeping both tires in line and on the ground. Though the latter is hard to do with the Buell. I got 5600 miles out of the stock Dunlop. I would have purchased another one except for the price. | ||
