Does anyone here race AHRMA with their Buell XB9? How competitive is it in BOT? What do I have to do other than full race safety wire to make it legal? Do you deck the 9R footpegs (I was scraping my S pegs on a track day with the tip removed). Any other bits of advice on anything Buell racing or AHRMA would be great. Thanks. Mark Never Give Up! |

Hey Mark, I'm a big AHRMA road racer that runs BOT on Buells. Buells are very competitive in the Battle of the Twins class structure. If your 9 is supersport legal, you can run F3. I'm trying to get the supersport rule relaxed for F3 however, as a 410 lb/80hp buell doesn't have a huge performance advanytage over a 75hp, 340lb SV650. You can bump to F2 and be competitive as well, although you are up against XB12's at that point. Eligible for F1 and sound of thunder, but your up against liquid cooled 1000cc twins so it would be mostly for the track time, although I have got on the box on my 12 before in F1. Buell pays contingency in F1, F2, and Sound of Thunder. Bridgestone pays contingency in everything, and I have had excellant results with their BattleAx BT-002 DOT's on my Buells. AHRMA goes to a bunch of cool tracks. Bike prep is pretty much identical to any other racing organization. Bellypan is a must. feel free to ping me offline at suprememomba@teammomba.com for more info |

I know AHRMA sure is fun to watch as a spectator, and the folks in the pits are very friendly. It is much more relaxed than even CCS in the pits, as these are a great bunch of folks. Have fun. |

Thank you both. Of course, now it looks like time is an issue. I would like to do Gingerman, Grattan, and Mid-O this summer, but, I may not have the time. Maybe 1 or two. Leah, I read that article in Motorcyclist and thoroughly enjoyed it. That is part of what made me think about racing the XB. I may just run it stock other than wire and a belly pan. I'm kind of an old man with bad shoulders anyway. I've never raced, but have done several track days. Can I get a race license at the AHRMA event? Do they run a school concurrent or elsewhere? Thanks. Never Give Up! |

Hey Mark (this is actually Wes in disguise), AHRMA does run a riders school at certain venues (I think Grattan is one for sure). They accept other racing shools for licensing purposes as well. Check out AHRMA.org for details. Mark Hatten is BOT guy and he can probably answer any questions you may have. Don't quote me, but for the big events including Daytona and Mid-O, I am pretty sure you must have done at least 2 other AHRMA race days to be eligible (1 AHRMA weekend counts as 2 race days). You will have a blast! Thanks for the props on the Momba stuff! that was a cool project and we had a blast doing it. We have another project with motorcyclist in the works at the moment thats going to be a riot as well. Dano_12, GUzzi is definitely coming! Stan Friedus has been running 2 or three wicked guzzi's the last couple of years and has owned the Formula 2 title for quite some time. Formula 2 is getting really cool/competitive. I think we had 5 different makes win at least 1 race last year. Daytona was incredible this year. A guzzi MGS-01 won F1! There were several fast BMW's, Guzzi's, the NCR ducati team, The Daytona weapon from japan....AHRMA in my opinion has some of the best/coolest twins racing around. Good stuff for sure... |

Thanks Wes. I will get my schedule for next month by Monday. If I have it off, I will go to Gingerman. License may be an issue though. If I can't race, I will probably go to watch 1 day with my son. Should be fun. Thanks again and hope to see you there. |

Sounds good Mark! Unfortunately we will be missing Gingerman (I got an opportunity of a lifetime to go the the Mugello GP in Italy) but will be at Grattan and Mid-O for sure. Hope to see you there! |
