I have belt part # GO500 02A8F is there an updated better belt for this year? I have read of people doing chain conversions and conversion to 04' I just want to get back on the road for now and upgrade later but would like a better belt if one exists. |

The new belt I received part number is G0500.02A8R the original number was G0500.02A8F Looks like the "R" belt is the latest version pulled from the knowledge vault |

A year ago I put that belt on mine. In two weeks it broke a friend bought one from same dealer same week his lasted 600 mikes. I now run a chain.By the way check out C3 on storm fronts. |

There is an upgraded belt for the 03's. I stripped some teeth off of one of the upgraded belts at MBiv last weekend with a liberal application of throttle. Damn thing only had 14k miles on it too. No need to upgrade to the newer belt or a chain if you ride like a human. |

PS - The manual on the original XB's recommends changing the belt at 10k(?) I think? |

Riding like a human is soooooo boring though. I try to do it as little as possible and i got over 15k on my orig 03 non upgraded belt with no guards. |

I had 14k on my original when it broke. I could go to chain for an acceptable price if i could just find a place to buy the tensioner and guide...sprockets and chain are not a problem |

Ncbuell1452: PM Saintly. He will help you convert to chain for a low price. He had problems, came up with the right parts list, and has helped many of us that were ready to give up on our bikes. He is a good guy, just out to help people with belt issues. |
