Since purchase as I've posted about before, the S1 went from a being a 'to-be' tricked out bike to a rat-bike ... Way too many unforseen problems to deal with that were not expected ...Sooo .. here's an update ... Replaced gas line, clutch and throttle cables (all were bad), primary gasket and tensioner shoe for primary chain, got rid of the mangled stock controls for rearsets, wheel bearings .. I am sure there are others but I can't think of them right now ... (mind you - I don't believe these are things I should be replacing on a bike just purchased that I thought was to be mechanically sound ..) Still to be replaced - steering head bearings Still to add - bar-end indicators and a left side bar-end mirror, proper breather setup, different front sprocket cover .. Threw on polished rocker covers, spent some time polishing the cam and primary covers while the controls and exhaust were off ... Had some modification done to the bar risers and dash mount to look right with clip-ons .. they no longer can hold stock bars even if I wanted to - shortened the entire assembly by a couple inches (inspiration thanks to Hodokaguy - machine shop access and machining thanks to Steve Mackay) ... The exhaust - Force exhaust - with 2 cracks in it - cut off the front mounting tab, welded up the 2 cracks, smoothed out the welds, then wrapped it, and threw on the updated Force mounting hardware.... Again - I am probably missing a bunch, but these are the main things ... Anyway - here's some progress pics ... (remember -this is what it looked like when I bought it)
(this is after last nite's work and today's work)
Oh - if anyone wants the chrome front sprocket cover - let me know or make me an offer - it has to go, doesn't look right any longer (Message edited by tattoodnscrewd on April 05, 2007) |
