Feet must reach the pegs properly and you obviously must have proper fitting gear. My boy loved it from about age 6. I have read similar posts online and have heard some say that kids falling asleep is a problem...never experienced it myself. |

My son could reach the pegs and sit comfortably at the age of five. We've never had any problems with falling asleep lol and there are several suppliers of kid's motorcycling equipment e.g. http://www.babybiker.com/ BTW this cracked me up... http://www.babecage.com/ |

Don't be afraid to get them out a little earlier (closed area, of course) so they get used to the bikes. My daughter LOVES bikes and had a blast when we did this in an empty parking lot. Do not go riding on public roads like this. I was going to do it in my neighborhood (private) - the wife suggested the empty parking lot. She was about nine months old when we did this.

exactly what midknyte said...for the short up and down the block stuff is fine but actualy being out on the street in my opinion the kid should be able to understand the ramifications of street riding.... |

Attention span is a big determining factor with me, along with being able to reach the pegs, have gear that fits, and understanding and following instruction. For each of my kids (3 of them) they were "ready" at a different age. My oldest (14 now) is now one of the best passengers you could wish for....as long as he doesn't lean out to the left at a stop to see what the hold-up is! Doh! |

And don't forget that curious kids often suddenly decide they want to look on the OTHER side while mid-way through a corner and such, shift their weight suddenly, etc. I say ride at 20% of your ability so that any such events don't throw you off. |

one of my earliest memories is riding on my dad's 250 CZ at age 2. I had to stand WAAAY back while he was kick starting it, then he would hoist me up on the fuel tank, and we would blast around the block a couple times. When my son was 8 years old, we went motorcycle camping (200 mile round trip), and he helped us win some motorcycle rodeo events: tire toss, egg grab, etc. |
