lol...For $.90 cents... I removed one screw, washer, and cap. Added a rubber O-ring to the thick side, and cut a thin, rubber flat-washer to size on the back. Just on one. Tightened GOOD.... Zero-rattle, smooth, no noise at all.

I might go to nylon if it proves to be a problem or they wear out, but I doubt I'm gonna heat it up like that. Maybe if I was on a track, but....(and I just thought of this; there's rubber washer and grommets all over a car engine, so...) But we'll see....Nice to not have the rattle, though! Keeping my eyes open for something that will the perfect solution, but I did find out that it DOES work, and only had to do one to get there. (Message edited by surf_boy on March 29, 2007) |

Good on ya Surf_boy!! I've been pushing the rotor button to one side creating as much space as possible and then winding a rubber band into the space and then on to the next one. Takes seconds to do and lasts me a couple-o-months! Works for me. |

Buell used to sell a kit that had new "spring washers" that would cure the problem... |

Spidey and others, my stock 2002 M2 disc has the spring "thrust" washers from the factory and I have never had a rattle. Maybe one of the late tuber updates. I'll bet you could buy these at McMaster-Carr for a few cents or just go to Harley and see if they even know what you're taking about. Anyways a real good, sure fix. |

Bob, Buell replaced the rotor in 2000. Those don't rattle, the pre-2000 ones shake your teeth out. Spiderman, the spring washers will go bad and start rattling again in a month. Surf, I'm still surprised you where able to unbolt the carriers. Mine were fused. I hope your solution works out for the long haul. It will save you a bundle now that Buell doubled the price of the rotor. |

Mine S1 has the death rattle. The anti rattle kit aint gonna fix it this time. The carrier is worn out. So I guess I will just install the new carrier and rotor sitting next to me. The old style one that is. |

Its a shame they doubled the price. The newer style rotor is the proper fix. |
