ok we have a customer coming in soon to put his race can off his XB9 on to his 07 xb12. he is not planning on running a ecm since his 03 won't work on his 07. my question is, will running stock ecm with the race muffler cause an engine code, in return cause the engine light to come on? i figured all this due to the stock ecm looking for a bypass valve in the muffler on the stock muffler. |

As long as the servo motor is still plugged in there shouldn't be a code. An emulator can be bought & used so that the servo motor can be removed completely. I wouldn't think it would be wise to run the race can with the stock ecm though. There's a good chance that it'll run lean. Unless the customer can put the bike on a dyno to see if the air/fuel ratio is ok as is,.. I would either buy the race ecm (for a 12) or have the stock ecm remapped. |

thanks for the info, around here i am considered "the buell guy" i am the only one with resources to get the very few local buellers what they need. so everyone i meet with one i refer them to this site and americansportbike.com (best buell sites ever) anyway this customer was referred here by me and ended up buying his CG from a badwebber, he said when he got it, it had a flatblack side rails and pasta strainer. hopefully he will see this thread |
