I'm ready to do it again. Though I will be taking the Uly in for a vibe it seems to have picked up at 3-4k. I think it might be the front motor mount. The rubber has a fresh crack in it. My route home on Sunday took me out east of Bull Shoals Lake and then over the ferry and through the twisties back to US 65 just north of Branson and then to home. That was a fun ride too. It took about 6.5 hours. |

Im *&$%ing annoyed.. Picked up my bike(06 XB9SX) at the beginning of this month from Gails and im already at 900 miles. Called Gails and they quoted me $260ish for the 1k service. I have yet to make my first bike payment which is isnt even close to half that so I am not excited about this. I decided to call topeka, they quoted me $200. Called TilleyHD(Sponser on the board) and they quoted me like right below $200. Called the HD deal in iowa where im from and they quoted me $195 w/o tax. Does Gails not realize im not some rich guy buying a insanely painted chopper? As you can tell 60 dollars is a big deal to me. Interesting that Stone Mountain HD(Sponser on this board) quoted me $325. This is interesting... (Message edited by caféelite on March 27, 2007) |

That's outrageous. Learn to do the service yourself and buy the service manual (about $60). I bet some of these KC boys could show you how to do it the first time. |

Dtx, do you mind if I reference that service when my sales guy calls me back? How long ago was this service? I plan on getting the FSM and doing the remaining of my work but from what I have read on this board is a smart choice to have the 1k service done at the dealship. |

Lawrence HD will do it for 200. Looks like I will be taking the day off to ride down. If I had bought the bike from them it would have been $150. I live in olathe so really the trip is not all that much further. Anyone have any horror stories about Lawrence that I need to be aware of? Man I am pissed at Gails... |

Lawrence should be good. They are a satellite store for Topeka HD/Buell and the Lawrence store supposedly focuses on the Buell's well. I believe the manager's name is Elli. Good guy. |

Yep Drake is right about the Lawrence shop. I got mine done at Central before they sold out from Buell for like $180. It is a good idea for the 1k service at the stealership because they check the factory recalls and replace everything under warranty if needed. And yeah Drake, steven's gettin rid of his R6 cause he goes to school at Pitt State and not much good riding is around there. Then he's moving to Texas for the summer to work there. I really need to get some pictures of my bike up, it's coming together really nicely. Just tacked on my double bubble last night so the only gold left is the lettering on the airbox, which hopefully will become white soon, to match the white lettering on my tires... |

Duff, I bet that looks cool! No good roads around Pitt State? Arkansas, Missouri and NE Oklahoma are all near there with some awesome roads! |

Well scheduled the 1k service at the lawerence shop and took friday off. It looks like it might rain but I will just have to tough it out. I will let everyone know how it goes. I voiced my opinion to the service person that answered the phone at gails when I called to ask why they charge 260 and the four other dealers I called charge 200. Obviously he is not the right person to b1tch at but I was pissed when his answer was lacking. I dont know maybe I will write a letter or something.. I think its lame though. |

Why bitch at the employees? If Gail's was hurting for your business, they would be priced lower. No sense being upset at them for being successful at a price point you refuse to pay. Just continue voting with your $$ and don't sweat it. |

James, Elli went to K-State too? Well that answers that...I knew he looked familiar from somewhere. I just could not figure out where. He seemed pretty pumped last fall when he told me he was getting the Manager's position at the new shop. Good for him. |

Well you know those crotch rocket guys, there's no way they would ride much away from the city, let alone out of STATE! I was impressed though last year he came with us to Cassoday one weekend, but I know he was feelin it the next day... |

Yeah, he had a pretty tricked out HD while we were there. As for the Gail's conversation.... F them! I hate that stealership. I've made the trip to Topeka twice now for warranty services that Gail's said no to and Topeka approved. They couldn't care any less about Buells there except when one of the salesmen is getting someone to sign on the dotted line. Other than that it seems like they wouldn't piss on one to put out a fire. With that being said, I've never busted any of the employees balls about it because they don't make any decisions. |

Yeah, I just don't understand the panties being so wadded over it. It isn't like you don't have a choice in the matter so hating the business is sort of irrational. Sure, they provide shoddy service at unreasonable prices, but it is a free market. They are currently in a position to be able to choose their customers, but it has been my experience that this is temporary. Eventually, they will not sell any Buells and will likely lose the brand. I imagine that this is somewhere in their secret strategy anyway since Buell is probably a drain on their resources. This given the difference in margin between a Uly and a Road King. Reputation being what it is, it all comes out even in the end. I have had problems my with them, but have been treated more than fairly on every occasion. The guys that work there are good people working with a large customer base comprised mainly of arrogant know-it-all jackasses dressed in pirate outfits. Buells and Buell customers are sort of an anomaly to them since we are such a small and unique group by comparison. Topeka HD has done it right in my opinion. Farm out the oddballs to separate store and call it good. |

I do agree with you about the free market, but the problem in KC is that Gail's is the only Buell dealership. It sucks that we have to drive/ride to Topeka or Lawrence to get decent service at a fair price. I think they do probably want to phase the Buells out, and I hope they do. More potential Buell riders are lost due to dealerships like Gails than we will ever know, so when one of those shops drops the line it is better for everyone. I would rather just know that I have to drive/ride to another town than have a dealership locally that I won't do business with. |

Arrr! Lee with me being a sailor your Pirate Arrr! comment is out of line. Arr! Arrr, Our mate James needs a custom saddle on his ride to keep from getting his panties all bunched up and making him crabby. Arrr! Learn to work on your own bike and no body can bunch your panties up, and you never have to leave your own garage (drive, carport) to get the bike serviced. |

Because when I do business w/ someone I like to build a relation ship so I know I will be taken care of in the future if need be. If I knew what I know now I would have bought the bike from the lawrence shop. This way they could reap the benefits of selling a bike instead of gails. I also think if there is a business in your area that provides a service you desire but does it in a poor manner then its your duty to make a big deal of it. If not they will continue to do what they want w/o any concern for you. I would like to make something clear though. When I said I voiced my opinion to the individual on the phone that quoted me the service cost, I did not yell at this person or swear. I let him know that I was not satisfied with their business and I regretted buying the bike from them. That is my form of b1tching. Since he works for gails and that is his department then he is a portal to funnel my complaint through. Is he the best? Maybe, maybe not... To end this discussion though im not setting in the corner crying about it. I am just more disappointed in the fact I have to switch dealer ships to get taken care. So lets move on from this over blown topic. Anyone else ride today? |

"It sucks that we have to drive/ride to Topeka or Lawrence to get decent service at a fair price." Yep. This is why I most likely won't be buying another new Buell. However, the alternatives are sort of similar unless you go Japanese with dealers everywhere. However, I have heard no less grumbling from my Japbike-riding buddies though. Bike ownership is sort of a haze no matter how you slice it. I am leaning towards a Beemer for my next new ride, but that introduces another whole set of problems. I am waiting to see how my friend with the GSA fairs before sending my $$ to the Fatherland. |

Arrrrr matees. This board has been a drag for some time. It's okay to have a discussion in here about Gail's even if we don't completely agree. I think there are just varying degrees of wadding. (Message edited by lowflyer on March 28, 2007) |

Come on now, the panty coversation is uncalled for, and I can't say that I really appreciate the condescending nature of a couple of the recent posts. I didn't start the coversation. Maybe you weren't talking about me, but uncalled for none the less.... My panties are not in a wad, Gails is a crappy dealership. I have offered to spend my money, that is the same color as everyone elses there and been rewarded with out of line prices and employees that couldn't care less. Whether you are defending Gails or just stirring the pot you can speak to someone else like that. Got to love the internet. Somebody always has to be the funny guy. The Gails forum is the other KC forum just above this one. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall Gails is one of the primary reasons there is a KCLW anyway. I guess we're all participating in sillyness every time we post here. (Message edited by Olinxb12r on March 28, 2007) |

I was kidding about the panties and including myself in the varying degrees of waddedness. I mentioned that I have had my issues with them as well. I have no interest in defending Gail's or anybody. I make no apology for anyone mistaking any of my posts for a personal attack of any kind. |

lowflyer - careful. I've been looking at BMWs for a little while and it looks like their dealership network is shrinking. So if you break down somewhere you may not find a dealer. Too bad, though, because I rode a friend's R1150R and man those things can lean over, especially compared to my Sporty. |

Dengle's has been good so far to the two customers of theirs I know. One with a GSA and the other with a GS. My biggest fear with the Beemer is the availability of parts. I don't want to wait 20 weeks for a clutch cable. Beauty of a day today. |
