Received a call back from customer service today about my pinging Uly. He was very helpful and wanted to work with the dealer to solve the problem. I was very impressed. Hopefully the dealer will be that eager to fix it. When I called to set up a appointment as soon as I said I had a pinger I was told it was a fuel quality problem. Maybe he was joking. When I mentioned Buell customer service was involved they seemed a little more helpful. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have had some bad experiences with dealers in the past. First experience with customer service was great!

Dentguy -

I'd call Buell customer service back and let them know your concerns about that particular dealer's ability to handle this situation.

Be polite and friendly, but just tell them that some of the things the employees at this dealership have said make you question their knowledge of, and commitment to Buell. EDIT - not to mention the incompetence they displayed as recorded in your profile!

At least then its on the table with CS before the dealer gets their grubby little hands on your bike again.

Yay! 950 miles of breakin to go! Got my first ride on it to work this morning, in the rain... Gotta love my nuclear balistic smurf outfit from aerostitch...

So far so good.

holy smurf batman... that's the same as mine. Talk about taking flack at work! I put it on to leave and the fun began... lucky for me I'm one of the first to get there, and last to leave... Keeps the funning to a minimum. Some of the other guys that ride (some ride to work) don't wear anything but a lid.

Only a little rain got in past the seam on my left pocket. The suit is about two months old, but I've only worn it a couple of times. It's breaking in nicely.

I got my Roadcrafter in 2001. It's been the best piece of riding gear I've ever owned. I've worn it from 18 to 104 degrees. In rain, snow (yes, snow!), sun, everything in between.

I was stuck in city traffic one day, and was sick as a dog to boot. When I put my arms down to my side, sweat poured out like someone turned on a water faucet. So, yes, when you aren't moving, it's warm...no, it's HOT. And it's not insulated, so in the winter it's not as warm as you think.

But if you wear the right clothes underneath it, it's wonderful.

I did a three day ride with friends once, and it rained off and on all three days. Only the collar of my shirt got wet, the rest of the crew got soaked and cold. I simply zipped up my vents when the rains came and kept riding.

Of course, I take care of it. Wash and re-waterproof it twice a year. In fact, I need to do it again for the summer.

When I go touring, it's the only piece of gear I take.

Fleas, hey now you can break the bike in per the newly-revised rpm limits!

BTW, my wife is breaking in her Duc MTS 1000 [a "used" bike, but new to us, and still in the break-in period]. She sent me an email telling me that she thinks the speedo is broken, as it was reading 97mph. ...I did the calc's and it looks like she was only at 5800 rpm in 6th, and still just below the NTE 6000 rpm in the Duc owner's manual. D'Oh!

I was told to keep it under 3500 rpm, and go really easy. At the old break in specs, it was hard to get on the roads withough getting run over.
Spent a little time on lime creek today, going 'easy.' Saw some nice looking old school buells out there, too.

97 mph is still in break in specs? I think I cap out around 65.... just enough to keep from being run over by crazy cagers in giant suv's trying to get to the local soccer fields.

I thought the new break-in procedure for the'07 and up bikes listed an NTE of 4000 for the first 50, and NTE 5000 for the first 500?

I didn't think there were any significant mechanical differences between the '06 and '07 motors, so why shouldn't you be able to break in with a little more spirit?

I'll have to review the .gpx file from our 150 mile ride yesterday, but she's a real terror on the Duc. If you do the ratio, the Duc's recommended break-in is very similar to the new Buell break-in. Chasing my wife around really, really lit a fire under me to get my ping resolved.
