Hard and Paint,
If there were more LEOs like you, there would be FAR fewer complaints like Riker's. And far fewer points of view like Liquor's.
I have talked with Liquor. He has had WAY more than his share of contact with, shall we say, the "overzealous" officer. None the less, citizen's rights HAVE seemed to have gone by the wayside in the effort to deter the actions of real, DANGEROUS criminals. Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't want your job. And how the decent cops manage to keep from getting to the point where they just think "well, everybody must be guilty of something" escapes me.
Liquor suffers from the flipside of that - "every cop is out to screw me just as hard as they can" An opinion that can easily be developed by repeated contact with the aforementioned overzealous element.
Let me tell you about around here, when the lights go on, you have been convicted, guilty, done. Police plant drugs and guns, lie and obfuscate. Courts tun a blind eye, the cops are ALWAYS right and NEVER lie. In many localities, it's revenue enhancement (read - provides ALL the income to support the local PD AND court) lord help you if you have out-of-town or out-of-state tags. The locals know about it and just don't go there. Businesses are suffering and closing but no one has figured it out. We need the police, we just don't need THE POLICE.
That said, I find as I gain "experience", if I just start with a "howdy, officer" and a smile - sometimes I can slide (provided I am not actually guilty of something) Or, if I'm in my truck, same thing, only with both hands high on the steering wheel. The last cop I talked to was entertaining me with stories of how much fun it was to taser a suspect over and over `till he lost bodily control because the guy "pissed him off". This while I was waiting for a tow. The officers in that particular jurisdiction were described by a State officer known to me as, I am quoting directly here, "a$$holes"

Please, please, do all you can to stay the way you are and set an example as to how it SHOULD be done. Do what ever you can to rid us of the A..H....

(I will work on the sportbike riders)

This country need to change the way it does things in this area.
None of the money generated by fines should go to the municipality issuing the citation.
Then the only reason to arrest would be to ensure the safety of the public.

If you look at what kinds of cars the police drive you've got a good guess if they fund themselves or not.

My old town PD funded themselves. Thus they had new cars, Harleys, hummers, etc etc. The county police tickets went into the county fund and not directly to the county police. Thus the County police had junk cars.

Many states have Laws to preven local LEA from becoming a source of revenue. And many states FBI sets up stings to intrap officers. Pretty girls driving drunk (acutall GBI) they cought a few guys from the county over. But my buddy followed the books and passsed the test.

I have a hard time posting my true feelings and experiences on a webpage. For what I hope are obvious reason. I hope to meet some of you that have bad experiences and get a chance to talk to you about the bad experiences we have had on the other side, that greatly jeopardizes our safety while simply trying to do our job.

I can give many examples here is one, and hopefully this will shed a little light in what I deal with on a daily basis.

A call comes out through dispatch about narcotics activity at a local party store. The caller gives specific detail as to which car, what individuals, including what they are wearing. (MOST CALLS ARE VERY VAGUE DETAILS AT MOST) Officers respond to the party store and do not locate any of the subjects, even though the party store is very busy with many customers both in the parking lot and in the store. The officers clear the scene.

Aprox 15 minutes later there is a second call, describing the exact same subjects, and gives even more detail. This time the officers are able to make contact with the main subject who tries to run. The officers are able to detain him (with little to no force)one officer steps in front of him to block him no hands on yet.The subject then starts diving in his pocket and disobeying the commands to keep his hands visible. (force escilades slightly, but they are not kicking the crap out of him or anything like that) The officers grab his arms to keep him from going into his pockets. One officer feels the outside of the subjects clothing where he was grabbing, and feels the outline of a gun. They place him in handcuffs, secure the gun, and do a search and find narcotics (crack). The guy gives a false name, and after being fingerprinted officers find out that he has a parole absconder warrant. Needless to say the officers involved gave this guy way more lattitude than what was necessary in dealing with him. (THAT IS WHY I AM ALWAYS CONCERENED WHERE YOUR HANDS ARE!)

Come court time, the judge throws it out, because there was no probable cause to search. HAS ANY ONE HEARD OF TERRY PAT DOWN! Which only requires that there is a reasonible belief that crime is a foot. The following reasons had no effect on the judge: high area of narcotics traffic, two very detailed calls describing HT, Weight, Clothing, facial description, vehicle information, the refusal of complaince to orders.

Ready for the next kicker, in the interview after the arrest the guy said "I WAS GOING TO KILL YOU!"

Like I said before, I hope you can apprecaite what we have to do for a living, and can understand why LEO can come off as a little rude. Think about my example above the next time some one ask you to do something simple like take your hands out of your pockets, even if they are rude about it.

HardCorps, my buddy LEO had a case of domestic abuse go to court. The judge ruled that sometimes hitting a spouse is not abuse. Told him to step down from the stand. Refused a request to talk with the judge and was told to leave the court room.

This is the same crooked judge that uses his laptop internet while hearing cases.

Bad Judges are = Bad for the Law Enforcement system.

A few years ago some friends of mine and I decided to go out after work to wind down. We went to the "No Name" bar and had a few drinks, maybe a pitcher each. I walked out of the bar to go home and because I was wearing heels (men must have invented them) I tripped a little when the heel hit a crack in pavement. I walked across the street to my car, got in and began driving home. I made it approximately 50yards before I saw lights in my rearview.
Being obedient of all laws governing driving (quiet Oz) I of course signaled and immediately pulled over. The wonderful Officer walked up to my window and asked for my license and registration. I handed it to him and asked what I had done wrong. He made no comment, told me to wait in the car and went back to his. After a few minutes he came back to my window and asked me to step out of my vehicle, asked if I had any weapons etc. I answered truthfully and he asked how much I had had to drink. I told him I had about a pitcher, he asked how long I had been at the bar, I told him about 2 hours. He then told me he was going to give me a roadside sobriety test. I took off my heels and performed beautifully. Didn't wobble, stumble or trip over my words when I said the alphabet backwards (which I can actually do) He then proceeded to give me a breathalyzer. After the first reading of 0.0 he repeated it with the same results. Being amazed he wondered aloud how I could drink a pitcher of beer and blow a 0.0. At this time I replied, "I never said I had a pitcher of beer officer, you asked how much I had to drink and I answered a pitcher, but it was soda” he was NOT a happy camper. HE did a full inspection of my vehicle looking for something, ANYTHING to write me up on and then followed me until he hit the city line.
Yes there are good cops, heck GREAT cops!! I have a brother-in-law who is a cop and many MANY friends who are, but while this officer messed with a girl who tripped walking out a bar all the people who were drunk got away scott free, another demonstration of profiling gone wrong. I did not intend to do this, I was just ticked because the only reason they pulled me over was because I tripped.
