So I went and picked up some Novus Plastic cleaner to get out some minor scratches and clean the tank/ airbox shell of my Black XB9S. I used Novus #1 first and it looked great EXCEPT 1 small scratch. I then switched to #2 to try and get rid of it. Now the top rear is all cloudy/hazey. Any suggestions? Do I just keep using #1 until it clears up?

Searched Knowledge vault 190 Days. 1 Post helped a little.

What kind of cloth are you using? That's fairly critical as well. Use a good soft cotton cloth, follow the instructions on the #2 bottle to the letter.

I think the #1 is not actually a polish, just a non static coating.

The Harley Sealer Glaze makes a good "finer polish then Novus #2"... think of it as kind of a Novus 1.5.

Clean cotton T-shirt for a cloth and I'm sure I followed the instructions but I'll have to recheck them when I get home.

Thanks,
Jeff

Did you take the t-shirt off first?

I had the same problem . . . it was my belly piercing.

Number 1 will remove the scratches that number 2 made, eventually -- however, make certain you are not re-using the same cloth (without a good wash in between) --

Reep's right on both his points -- the clotch make a huge differnece, and Harley's sealer glaze IS a novus 1.5 (good way to put it, Mouse)

3M also makes some good polishes, btw

Well, I got most of the haze out last night I used #2 with very light pressure (I'm sure I was applying too much pressure in the first place). It dosen't look bad. It's not completely clear yet, but I'm getting there!

Thanks,
Jeff

Court I had a nice chuckle over the belly button ring

Been there done that. I bet you have a black bike, not psychic just read your profile. It has been mentioned here before and I'll say it again for anyone with a black bike. Do not use Novus 2 on a black bike it will haze. I'll have to try the Harley Sealer Glaze sometime.

Hey, I have a black bike. Sure am glad you mentioned that as I was thinking about trying to remove some marring.
Any advice on that note? This is the typical dulling from using the tank bag.

Try using Eagle One, Nano polish after the Novus 2.

Make sure you finish the Eagle One with a soft cloth by hand.

Final coat of Plexus will bring you to a finish that is about as close to factory as you will get.

I second the Eagle One -- my neighbor from across the street, who I have never talked to before, walked over while I was washing my 12R with a bottle of Eagle One and said to try it. This guy is maybe mid-60s or older, with two BEAUTIFUL Corvettes that he takes to shows. He said a guy with a amazing black 'vett at the last car show said Eagle One is what he uses.

Needless to say I tried it out, worked like a charm. Always listen to your elders, they know stuff!

Cheers!
