Doon, I'll have to check you out next trip to do 10 or 51. Last time we did 10, a few weeks ago was a fiasco. A buddy talked me into taking Friday afternoon off for an impromptu ride, and so we met at my house at 1PM and rode out by the Hinkley Reservoir, then 8 to the intersection of 10, down through Canajoharie. We met another buddy in Canajoharie and shot the shoot till 6PM. I knew we probably should have jumped on the thruway and just went home, but we still wanted more adventure. My friend had never been on 10 between Canajoharie and Ames, so we continued South. Long story short, we did 10 to 20W to 166S and I was leading. It's about 7pm, multiple deer warning signs, grass is waist high at the white line...finally a fawn jumps out only a feet in front of me, I nail it, mostly with my right foot. Good thing for steel toe boots. We stop, my buddy who was following says, "that was a huge rabbit!" I say, "that was no rabbit, that was a ___ deer!" Needless to say I was upset, but no damage done, except to the deer. A little while later it got dark and started raining. I'm still wearing my black shield, wishing we took the thruway home. We would have been home by now! Anyway, our afternoon trip turned out to be 330 miles for the trip total, home by 11PM. |

I'm in the Binghamton area. I just picked up an M2 a few weeks back and am hoping to get it out on the road tomorrow for a short ride (despite the cold). I'm glad to see there are a few others in the area |

Hi all, Went for a ride today for a few hours. It was a bit cold, but at least it was dry Of the bikes I've had over the years, this is the one I'm most impressed with. I'm not sure how many good riding days are left, but if next weekend doesn't suck, anyone interested in meeting up at Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse? |

i might be interested in taking a run out To dinosaur BBQ. All depends on how my week goes at work and if the weather isn't too cold/wet (oh yeah and if I can sweet talk my better half, since I was gone all this past weekend at the Headless horseman run). -Patrick |

Looks like the forcaste for Saturday is rain & snow mixed all day. However it is suppose to be nice tomorrow. I was thinking of taking a putt from Rome down to Richmondville, where a friend of mine owns the Broken Spoke Bar. Anyone want to take a ride, I'd like to meet some other Buell Riders. Well fall weather here makes it a bit brisk in the mornings It was 52 or so in my driveway, but as soon as I dropped into the valley, the temp dropped as well. Was mid 30's in the valleys and low 50's in the mountains. So I tried to stick to higher elevations on th e way in. All in all a nice ride... |

Hey guys, Haven't checked this thread in a few months...seemed nobody was home. Now I've missed opportunities to ride with a few of you. Would have liked to meet up with Silenc3r at the Dinosaur. The season is very short here. Before you know it, it's sled season. Ironheadsporty, that probably was me in Cicero, if the red bike following was actually my buddy on his red 996 Ducati. My bike is Blue, we both have black helmets with black shields. We (CNY Buellers) should do what other clubs do, set a date and get everyone to try and hit it. Since it's into Nov now, let's pick a date for early spring, how about April 21. Roads are good by then, we could plan a route thats convenient to grab as many CNY Buellers as possible. Maybe to make it worth our while, an overrnighter to Lake Placid? Many options. Whadaya say? (Message edited by ricochet on November 05, 2006) |

April sounds good to me, I will probably be taking a cross country ride in early to mid May. The weather is also suppose to be good for the next week or so. I was planning a ride Thursday as I have other things that have me tied up until then, like various appointments. This coming weekend looks like it may be good as well. I live near the Tug Hill and although we have more than a little snow on the ground now, it appears that by mid week the roads, at least, will all be in fine shape. I would like to meet some other Buell riders. As Long as there isn't ice or lots of salt on the roads, I like to ride. |

Ricochet- Fantastic little putt this past Thursday. Now if we can get some of the other Buell Riders to come out, that would be fantastic. Even though we never got out of Oneida county, there were some very nice twisties (had to watch out for the sand) and very little traffic on the back roads. The views were fantastic. I do need to wash off the mud from that dirt section, though. I hope we can get together again soon and get some other Buell riders interested in some adventure to ride the back roads also. -Trapper |

Trapper, Great ride! The back roads of Oneida county were awesome, and we found a few new ones that I didn't know about. I gotta get a Uly with the GPS, that's too cool! My bike's clean again, but not put away yet..... Ricochet |

Haven't seen anything on here from CNY Buell folks in a long time. Hope everyone had a fine Holiday Season. I have been enjoying this great riding weather we have been having to get some off season riding in. Haven't seen many other folks out there other than a couple Harleys. Has anyone else been riding? -Trapper |

I was out on Saturday. Went down to the garage and my License plate was missing.. Which really pissed me off. So I snagged on from my other bike to go for a ride. Was awesome. Now I have to go figure out what to do about the plate.. /sigh... |

Glad to see that there are some Buell riders in CNY that find time to check this site out. That means there is hope in getting together for some good motorcycle rides, weather permitting. If I can get out between storms, I plan on riding down to Florida about 7 March during bike week. Then either take a putt to the West Coast & back or maybe just ride over and come back along the Blue Ridge via Deals Gap stopping to miss dangerous bad weather on my way back home to CNY. Anyone else up for a late winter/early spring several day ride? The only real committment I have is to attend the Iron Butt Association meeting/party in Jacksonville on 9 Mar. Other than that I would like to get some miles in! -Trapper |

I was directed here by American Thunder Bike to find some fellow upstate New Yorkers.I just traded my 99 x1 Lightning for a 07 xb12r Firebolt and rode it home in the down pour last wensday. It now has a whopping 17 miles on it and it's time to scuff up the tires and get her broke in. Drop me a line if your in the greater Utica-Rome area. Also I've signed up for the sept 27 track day at Poconos if anyone else is going. |

Howdy all! I haven't checked back here in ages. I'm glad I finally did, though. I'm totally in for Apr 21. So, we've got like a month until go time, we have a plan yet? Despite the weather, I've managed to get 3 days of good riding in so far this month, and I'm just itching for a few more |

Hi guys, I've been busy riding snowmobiles and haven't looked at this site in a while. I'm kind of amused that throwing a tentative plan of Apr 21st out there and it fished in some interest! Looks like you a few of you would be interested if I threw down a plan? One of my faves is Lake Placid/White face. I'm on my way out the door right now, but I wanted drop a quick line to you. The 21st is a Sat. A good Adirondack loop is in the 450 mile range and takes most of the day. Both Carp and Silence are are under two hours from here. Could you get to the Syracuse Area by 9AM? I usually start that ride earlier, but if we started later, it makes it convenient for people farther away to get here, without staying over.I'm assuming that some of the Rome/Utica folks would come, maybe Doon from the Albany area. I can make more definite plans if anyone else is interested, let us know. Depending on interest, we can plan a loop to include as many as possible. If you're into it, let's hear it! I'll check back on a regular basis. Steve |

Frank, Glad to hear you're into it. I guess I'll wait to see who else is into it before narrowing down the route and plans. Was considering doing all of SR10 from Binghamton to Speculator. That takes quite a bit of time by itself, but it's a riot. The Rochester folks could cut across the finger lakes to get there, we could pick up Doon...let's see who's interested. Steve |

Hey Steve, I would gladly be in, and could meet in syracuse whatever time we need. The SR10 trip looks like quite a ride! would that be a day trip? either way, SR10 or lake placid would be a good way to kick off the season. |

Would sure like to meet up with all of you for a ride on 21 Apr however I had already committed to help out at a Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation for some Scout leaders to be conducted on that date in Westmoreland. Surely wish it was a Sunday ride. But with some luck may be there will be some more get together/rides in the near future on some dates I will be able to make. |
