You'll probably want to add a couple rub blocks...one over the swingarm and one on the mount block. Or you could go old-school and let the chain clearance itself out! Say, when are you going to use the rest of that tire?? | ||

even with the roller mine cleared itself, lightened up my swingarm nicely! with that undershock the chain stretches crazily but it's easy enough to put back on if it falls off hehe, i've done this a couple times due to laziness of not pulling the tire back as needed, doh  | ||

The combination of short swingarm, longish travel, and a high angle between the swingarm pivot and rear axle to the front pulley, all conspire against the easy use of the chain. Some racers used a '78 XL primary tensioner shoe to keep the chain off the swingarm. You can bolt it to one of the fender mounts. I cut one in half and it's been there for over 10,000 miles with little wear. (Message edited by Rick_a on March 18, 2007) | ||

At last, someone who works like I do, S**T and chaos all around and in the end it all turns out OK. I'll expect a "Chain Letter" too. Made that mod myself this winter. | ||

quick question for all you chain gang types - is there an easy way to correct the speedo for different gearing? (or do you all pretty much run the stock ratio?) I'm considering the chain mod so I can run a more aggressive ratio for the supermoto type riding I'm doing, but the quickest solution for the speedo I've come up with is to change the faceplate on the cluster so it reads right - not the best, but it'd work | ||
