I'm thinking of buying a 2005 xb9sx cityx in hero blue for my first bike ever. It's never been laid down, no scratches, 3100 miles, and we bartered the bike down to $6550. Just wondering if this is a good deal or not? It was only registered for the 2004-2005 year, so how much would it be to register it again? Plus the front brake pads would need to be replaced soon, but that's about all that I found amiss. He's just got married and now has a small baby so he's selling me the bike. Your thoughts? is this a good deal? |

The first thing that jumps into my mind, is why would a bike that was only ridden 3100 miles need brake pads already? I got 11,000 out of my first set, and I only changed them due to pulsation. There was plenty of lining still on the pads. |

3100 miles does not seem too unreasonable... 5000 miles is a stretch for my front pads, what about tires? Are they in good shape, and are they original? Although you probably would want to ask how he used the bike (i.e. track days, canyon runs, commuting, "stunting")... |

It has original tires on it, and they have a lot of tread on them left, both sides and middle. The rear brake pad looks great, I just heard that the brake pad should be an 8th of inch thick, this looks a lot thinner than that. No stunting, just a lot of front braking. He bought it in CA and drove it around UT. We have lots of good canyons here, so I'm assuming ya, canyon runs, and a daily bike in the city, 3 miles tops to work and back (I know that because his work is right behind mine, very close to our houses). |

what i have done sometimes to find out if a bike is a good deal is to check kelly blue book, call the local bike shop to see what trade in would be and check the motorcycle trader to get an average. if it's any where close then your not doing so bad. when we were through ogden back in 01, i don't think the harley shop was selling buells so i don't know whether they are now(btw, i though it was a great town and the people at the shop were really great) if nothing else, if you can get someone to look over the bike for you so you can make a better decision, that might be better. either way, good luck cause they are great bikes. did i mention how fun they are. |
