Overall this was a positive article. http://buell.com/en_us/news_events/inthenews.asp However, there were some technical concerns which I thought the magazine tried to play down a bit by saying that while "this" bike had the problem we've not heard this to be a problem overall. Anyone else have an opinion? |

Motorrad never plays down anything! I have read their articles for years, and they are known to be brutal to the extreme, especially where they see technical weaknesses. To get a very positive write up in Motorrad is quite an accomplishment. I would expect this credibility to move the needle a ways for Buell in Europe. |

>>>>I would expect this credibility to move the needle a ways for Buell in Europe. It will. In fact, the article about Erik's trip to Milan in the recent issue of Motociclisimo is the talk of Italy. I've a fairly good friend who is the editor and have a chance to go visit with him in May. They are very "up" on Buell. In addition, another good article just hit Italian newstands about the current crop of Buells. The Italians are P-A-S-S-I-O-N-A-T-E about their Buells! Cool beans and I have to say the Motorad 50,000km test is the most comprehensive and factual I've seen a magazine do. How do you say Kudos in German?

I agree. It's refreshing to see something other than hearsay or conjecture. As of late I've been on a few import sites. Any word of Harley or Buell sends out cries of impending doom. |

Pretty impressive article. We certainly don't have anything like that kind of in-depth review in U.S. motorcycle magazines. Pretty cool that the engine actually put out slightly more horsepower after 50,000 kilometers of thrashing. |

That's maybe the article I've ever seen about any bike (or car for that matter) in terms of good, honest reporting.

We certainly don't have anything like that kind of in-depth review in U.S. motorcycle magazines. Sad but true, our magazines seem to be more about advertising rather than reporting. Pretty cool that the engine actually put out slightly more horsepower after 50,000 kilometers of thrashing. The way it always is, you've got to get an engine run in before HP and mileage reach their potential. |

98 Octane... Wouldn't that burn your O2 senser up after a while?? Is there a difference on European bikes perhaps.. |

Sometime when we cross paths remind me to tell you the story of what I did with a Motorad editor at the secret "Euro Press Pre-Launch" of the 1998 Buells. These guys are wild! I was assigned to "bike-sit" the team from BIKE in the UK the following year. I took them, along with their test bikes, to a deserted stretch of highway in Nevada, left them and told them I'd return in 30 minutes. I couldn't bear to see what they were going to do the Buells. Yep . . got the photos! |

Pretty cool article! I too wish more mags did this. How does the wear and tear on the buell compare with other makes with 30,000 miles? |

>>>How many motorcycle boards do you belong to!? Currently I try to stay active on several in various countries. I find it likely that it Buell owners in the USA are having a problem, that folks un Hungary, Argentina or Italy may as well. I am a "non-discriminating owner's advocate". It's much easier now than in was in 1994 when the internet was cumbersome. Now with my daily construction work, being a full-time grad student and guitar I donn't have to be sitting at a screen. I rely on feeds to my Blackberry. You may have noted that I ask folks to be fairly specific and include some meaningful information in the subject line. With just a bit of cooperation I am pleased (and kinda thrilled) that there have been some issues totally resolved within 4 hours of the owner first saying a word. Funniest one to date was when I was sitting in a class, got an e-mail (which I rarely read in class) "processed" it and the case was closed by the time my lecture ended. I mean . . . how "captivating" does this crap look anyway.
I've been doing it for the better part of 20 years. If I stop enjoying it, I will stop doing it. Court |
