What do you think?
1)But what can I do with the awful looking rear: tail-light, fender, and turn-signals just hanging off the back?
2)Has anyone mounted the electrics (ignition box, fuses) underneath the seat?

p.s. Adjust your clutch. WOW! what a difference. Must of been slipping a little since I bought it from the previous owner. Power wheelies? No problem!

i had my m2 in for service last yeaar and somebody knocked another bike or fork lift or something into it breaking the bodywork. it took over 6 weeks to get the bodywork in since body parts were hard to find. But i like the raw s-1 esque look of your bike!!! i should have just had them strip the body work off!!!
at the same time, they replaced the clutch lever that broke and did adjustment and you are right- the bike never felt so good!!!!

I like it, but yeah, you definenatly need to clean up the tail.

What if you get a rashed tail off ebay, and cut it down so that it is just a thin band under the seat and then blends into the taillight. You could even paint it black and it will just provide a little transition from the seat to the taillight while still exposing all the guts and the oil tank.

Or maybe something like this, - with a low profile LED taillight and mini markers... Now that I look at the stock tail section, you might have to make this custom from aluminum or fiberglass so the line will flow into the oil tank...

Naustin: Your first suggestion is exactly what I was thinking as being the easiest/cheapest way without having to change much. I still want to cut the fender plastic down more. Maybe relocate the plate to the side?

You make a good point about the stock plastic not blending in. I think I will have to buy a spare set of plastic. Anybody have some cheap?

Thanks for the input!

Any other suggestions?

To me, little too much cut off.
Try photoshop with the plastic starting at the low point of the seat, and going back from there.

I just removed the rear hugger and lower belt guard this weekend on my 99 M2 (also yellow). Really like the way it opens up the rear end.

Was taking a look at it and thought that the plastics now look out of place.

Of all the shots on the photobucket site, I like best the photoshop version w/ the small piece of tail section left that cuts up into the seat.

Regardless of what style you go with, what do you plan to do w/ the electrical box on the right side of the bike? Yeah, relocate it - but where?

I like the way naked tails look! Hey... a double entendre.

I'm going to do my own research on one of those entendres.

I think some color there would look goog But All I think you need is a rear seat cowl (like a Ducati Monster) you could make one of fiberglass if you have the skills or a body shop could do it fo you...

I got out my kids crayons today and started drawing some lines on the bike. Oddly enough, I ended up with a straight line. Here is a photoshopped picture that I put a line over top of the crayon original so it would show up.

Jayvee: Try photoshop with the plastic starting at the low point of the seat, and going back from there.
That might not be a bad idea. Although I want to make sure the frame shows up. I will go play around with it some more tomorrow.

Warden123:All I think you need is a rear seat cowl (like a Ducati Monster)
With the cut down plastic, I think a seat cowl would look great. Might look at some aftermarket options to see if I could get one close. No good with fiberglass
Here is a rough version:

Schwiiing: Making a naked bike, more naked is my kind of chopper.

Bomber, where did you move your fusebox, etc? and what did you do for your tail-light.

THANKS for the great input. I am really making my wife nervous. She doesn't like the idea of me taking a hacksaw to the bike. (She likes it how it is...typical: ))

"She doesn't like the idea of me taking a hacksaw to the bike."

If that were true of my wife, she would have left me long ago! Hacksaws rule!!

Used mine to remove unwanted tabs from the swingarm, trim rear tail section, trim ktm front fender, trim acerbis headlight, remove battery tray from frame, remove left fork caliper mount, make own chain adjusters, remove rear peg mounts, shorten shifter, brake lever and muffler.....ehh you get the idea!

Bigblock: What did you use to trim your plastic?

Also, what kind of rear sets do you have?

With hacksaw in hand and tears in my eyes...

I DID IT!!!

Next project: Trim off caliper tabs on front fork, take off reflectors, and paint fork legs black.
Photoshopped version (rear plastic also photochopped in this pic)

Really like the cut down look. OK, questions...

What did you use to make the cut and keep it straight? Did you do it on the bike or did you have to remove the tail section to make the cut?

What do you plan to do w/ the electrical box on the right side of the bike?

Have you had any issues since removing the cover over the primary pulley? Was thinking about removing mine, but am concerned about pant legs etc. getting caught up in the pulley.

If you wouldn't mind, would you post a pic (on Picassa - none of your images are showing up on BadWeb) shot straight on from the rear.

Thanks. Nice work so far.

The only thing I don't like about it is the fact I didn't do it first... it looks great, man.

A+ for originality and execution.
