Nuts, Not trying to discount your insane abilities, but the Gap aint' no racetrack! I'm signing up in the "novice" group! It does seem as though Buell called PTT one afternoon and said "hey can ya'll set this up?" But 150 junior bacon cheeseburgers seems pretty reasonable to "get on track". Jackie, picture me scribbling notes on anything close by...magazine/tissue/refund check/etc.. |

Tank, the Cole Trickle comment was purely in jest. I didn't want to be put next to a bunch on "new" riders. Those trying to find the clutch and whatnot I need to stay away from. The price is right, unfortunately, as I stated they aren't particularly clear about the permitted attire. I'm also heading out to Deals Gap Sept 14 from Roanoke. Wadding my bike two days before would be wrong in a lot of ways. This year my Dad is going to bring his bike up here and we are going to ride down to meet his former troops. I can't leave him hangin in the wind because I was foolish and tried to drag my knee everywhere! I have been known to be suckered into foolishness quite easily. NUTS |

Nuts, I thought you were joking. Organizations normally require riders to be familiar with the equipment, and be able to use it well before they will let them on track. They don't teach how to ride, they teach you how to ride faster! So, you are going to try your luck against the Dragon again?? Same group of Floridians as before? Well dang. I almost had a plan starting to brew.(I know...scary) I was thinking of heading out toward "the Valley" after the VIR thing. Any word on that camping trip deal for the spring??? Tank |

So, I got a couple in me... Here's my modest monitor setup...
I have a 19" lcd tv on the way, and I plan to "hang" it over a shelf, over the monitors. But, I have to re-locate this most beautiful poster, which has been there for many years...
I am told this is a rare poster, and I really want to continue to display it. drunk dilema...I guess I'll sleep on it... tANK |

Sweet poster! I am a bit disenchanted with Metallica however since the Napster fiasco. I think Lars lost a lot of us after that nasty business. As long as the camping trip calls for sunny days and no rain in sight I am in. I don't mind camping in the rain but can't stomach the idea of my bike getting wet and muddy . |

I am a bit disenchanted with Metallica... I agree 100%! Plus, after "And Justice.." the music seemed to lose some "grit" with me. I'm never drinking again! nuts Me too(at least not until tonight ). Tank |

Nuts, You can learn alot at a track day, if you keep your wits about you. Just watch out for the "Oak Tree Turn". Ran off the track twice there, never could get that turn down like I needed to.....Charlie |

I have it on good authority NUTS' ole Lightning found a new home yesterday. A bit of depression has set in and I'll have to combat that with a good ride today. If you're riding today have a good time, this weather has been a long time coming! NUTS

Jackie, good luck with the FTF and ball tonight. I'm headed up to the club to throw some lead at paper and maybe get hold of a shock gobble. No worries, I won't yelp or call too much. NUTS |

Unfortunately, My Ulysses began to ping again today. I have already been in contact with Buell CS and they were extremely helpful the first go-round. As soon as the Ping re-appeared this afternoon I headed immediately over to my dealer and asked if a tech could take it for a ride. Shortly thereafter a tech was produced and ride he did. He agreed there was a noticeable ping, so I left the bike. I asked the initial tech( who worked with the Buell CS Gents) to contact those gentlemen again. Hopefully we're on our way to saving this bike because I really enjoy it so much. I bid the Service Dept. luck and informed them I was in no immediate hurry for the bike back: I'd rather have it properly diagnosed and sorted without a foot tapping owner in the wings. Smiles all around and I got to take an XB9sl home for the day. Ever see a 6'3" goon riding an sl? Funny stuff. Looking forward to my Uly though. NUTS |

Piece of dooky. I told you to buy an Aprilia . I'm sure this will brighten your day. Ball practice sucked. The girls looked like a bunch of amateurs. To top it off I partially dislocated my shoulder trying to get the ball WAAAY out in the outfield. Happy day brutha! |

Sorry to hear about the return of the ping monster. Hopefully they will get everything sorted. Maybe a race ecm and k&n with the stock can would help?? How's about that feedback from the short throw suspension on the "SL". Likely beat you to death compared to what you're used to. Wait just a minute.... They haven't produced a 9SL since....04? Tell me they don't still have a new SL laying around. Bet it doesn't ping....DOLT Tank |

No it didn't ping. They took that in on trade for my old Lightning. No signals, Jardine exhaust and Dunlop d207RR'S! Exciting for sure, but not something I'm looking forward to for a long time. I'm going to keep this bike stock and am unwilling to band-aid any problems. I've mettled enough things in my life. NUTS |

The nines never had a ping problem and the twelves have always had one. Just different degrees, with the Uly being the worst. The nine is a better motor, strictly my opinion. They even use that stroke in the XBRR, must mean something. Maybe they need to use it in the Uly also......Charlie |

Charlie, I feel the "9" is plenty motor enough for the Uly. It just isn't available. RVHD&Buell just reclaimed a 2002 Cyclone and it sure had me thinking. The grapevine says my Buell got a compression leakdown test today and we are awaiting the next move from East Troy. Happy Trails, NUTS |

Nuts, Any 12 motor is suspect for pinging, even cyclones. Not usually as bad as the Uly problem. They may say the seals are bad, but I think it's in the advance curve. That's why I changed mine. But nothing is absolute.....Charlie |

I stopped by to say, hello. I also wanted to say that I was out in Paint Bank, VA yesterday and I must say that it was beautiful. I also took a short drive on Rt. 311 and it looks like it would be a good workout on a bike. The chef at the Swinging Bridge restaurant said that on a good weather weekend the place is packed with bikes. I can certainly see why. I was just wondering if you folks from the Roanoke area make regular runs over that way? I didn't get to ride much last year and I'm determined to change that this year. I just haven't found many around here to ride with. I still haven't talked to Rainman in Charlottesville even after he PM'ed me. I am itching to get to Roanoke HD to see a real Virginia Buell dealership. I've been to Roanoke for training a few times now and can't get the time to go by when they are open. Sorry for crashing the tread. If anyone from Roanoke happens to be headed for any of the dog and pony shows at Shenandoah HD this summer let me know, maybe we could meet. Later |

The nines never had a ping problem and the twelves have always had one. I know, just some friendly ribbing on my part. Hey Xbduck, if you're looking to get out in Sept., check out the Buell Sponsored Track Day thread in the DC,MD,VA section. Looking to be a good time! Tank |

XBduck, I was just at Paint Bank last Sunday. Rode up 311 from Roanoke and took the backroads back home. The roads are a little gravel strewn still but that bodes well for my re-acclimatization to speed. Post up a time and we'll see if we can't get a contingent up that way. I do enjoy riding up the BRP to Buena Vista for a hotdog at Frank's. That's a little closer your way and good roads too! Everyone crashes these threads so don't worry. Welcome all and all are SUSPECT! Weekend without the Uly folks.NUTS |

Hey Nuts, I love to run the BRP also. Meeting at Frank's for dogs sounds good. Now if I can just get my wife to ride her bike on the parkway. She doesn't like big curves or steep cliffs beside the road. The last time we rode any distance we rode Rt. 11 to Lexington. If I have to I think I could get her to Buena Vista with me. Well got to go my laptop battery is almost dead. Later |

Nuts, I have been brought back to reality. In my frenzy to be young again I forgot that my leg cannot take the heat of the pipe being that close to it. I was reminded by Arielle that my leg swelled like a balloon from the heat when I would take her riding on the ATV. I imagine the dirtbike would be the same outcome. I am trying to convince myself that with a pair of MotoX boots I will be o.k. but what if I'm wrong? Gotta find somebody to let me ride theirs' so I can see if I can overcome the issue. Any of your breakfast buddies got a dirtbike? |

Seth, did I ever tell you about the guy who waltzed into Power Sports and fell for a 2007 DR650? His name is Jackie and he is a maniac! But $89 a month for 5 years seems totally do-able doesn't it. Bad thoughts I'm having. NUTS |

Seth, I am suffering the same "must have" of the week. Nuts, After browsing Ebay I am strongly considering taking the plunge on a used one. That way if it doesn't work out I won't lose as much if I have to sell it. Looks like good deals to be had but hate the idea of monthly payments. Time to sell everything not bolted down (except the Firebolt)to come up with some funds . |
