... as of March 9th! Katie and I have been talking about marriage for a few months now, but she figured I was broke so we would have to wait awhile for engagement. Needless to say I hid away a few bucks here and there till I had enough saved up to pay cash for the ring. Picked it up last Thursday, so now I had to pick a day. I was hoping to do it on the 2 year anniversary of my brain surgery, Feb 25th, but I was away for some Stryker vehicle training with my unit. We had plans for this weekend to go to DC for the Shamrockfest, see the Street Dogs, Connells, Tossers, and Flogging Molly play. We then had plans to see the Dropkick Murphys in Allentown March 12th. So I came up with a plan. First I stashed the ring in my Carhart pocket. When she came down Friday, March 9th, she would not leave till she went out in the shop and see how the restoration on our '41 Plymouth was coming. We took a peer at it, and since this is where we had our first kiss, I asked her to look for something. When she turned around I was on one knee and popped the question. She said yes, of course! So we left for DC that nite, and went to the Shamrock fest Saturday. We watched the Street Dogs perform (lead singer Mike McColgan used to be the lead singer of the Murphys), drank a few beers, then went to the bands tent. She had a chance to meet the whole band, and was plesantly surprised the band knew me. A few more shows, then finale with Flogging Molly playing. She would not stop talking about it all day Sunday as we toured the capital haha. Then on Monday we headed up to Allentown. We arrived, moved up to the stage and were about one person away from the barricade. First few bands play, then our favorite band, Dropkick Murphys, come on and perform. She had a blast, even though she is only 4'9" being that close, getting crushed, stomped on, etc. Then they break out into a song called Forever, our song, about halfway through. She is almost in tears, as they do not play that song often live, when Ken Casey dedicated this song to the two newly engaged. She turned to me with that beautiful smile, then looked at Ken who gave her a wink and a nod. I am glad I requested them to play it, I will always have that picture of her standing there with that beautiful smile... So now comes all the planning, guest list, etc. We are taking the M-2 out for a rip on Saturday to the lake to set up a guest list and a date. AWPrior is going to be the best man of course! She is insisting we use the '41 Plymouth as our car, I am trying to get the Buell as our steed... Brian Cessna

Congrats! I tried the idea of riding off on the Buell, but it was January when I got married, so we took off in my Corvette (a blast). I've gotta check those other bands out now that you've mentioned them. For an Irish guy... I really enjoy the Dropkick Murphys, I wonder why. Keep those 8 wheels rolling~ |

Thanks for the wishes everyone. She is a beautiful, adventurous, old fashion, small but mighty girl. Ferris- This summer, Kate and I were hoping to take a trip down your way, if your ever up in PA, just give me a call. Toona, I am not sure if I will be taking the bike up to IUP, I have alot going on till the end of the sememster where I need my Blazer to haul all my gear. T9r and Chasespeed- Prior and I have been following the Murphys and Flogging Molly since about 97-98. The Murphys are my favorite, and also Kates! Kate was adopted 5 months old from Korea by a Scotch-Irish family. She grew up in Chambersburg, PA. XB9er, I see you are from Bellwood, what unit are you with? Do you know Brubaker, he is a welder at NS? I drill with HHC 2/112th, was an FO with Bco, now am the Fire Support NCO (E-6 position) for C co. For all those asking about the Stryker, I am a Vehicle Commander for the Fire Support variant. This past month was Phase II where we drove the hell out of them. Did not need to add any oil, nothing broken, and the 350hp Cat. never missed a beat!. I am greatly impressed with it, a hell of alot better than the 113's we used to play with. Alrighty time to head out in the shop and get the M-2 de-winterized, and wrench on the Blazer. Thanks again everyone! Brian Here's one of my favorite pics, me and Ken Casey from DKM

Rainman-you got it man haha Dora- Thank you, maybe our honeymoon would be in Asia (or Australia depending on the rock/papers/scissors and um, finances)?????? Ferris- Steve-damn man it has been too long since last time we have hung out. We are hoping to come down and see you again this year, I will let you know long in advance. Art- Dates, not a problem. We are working out a guest list, and dates this weekend. And hey thanks for sending me the pics you took at our place, one is my profile pic. The actual wedding might be a bit small, but the reception should be freakin huge with Army, Buell, College, Farming, Reenacting, Hunting, and other buddies. Thanks again everyone! Brian |

Brian, Congrats! Did not see you posted this until today, and was wondering when the heck you were going to post! It's been a while in the making, glad you finally popped the question. Can't wait for it! It's going to be a good time. If we ride the Buells in the wedding, looks like I'm riding east again! You got a good one Brian! Prior Good work on 'Forever'. |
