There are a few topics in the KV about switching forks, but no really interesting answers. Are there any other types of forks that may be better to replace the stock ones with? Without having to break the bank? | ||

I just had my forks done from a local sportbike suspension shop. They revalved them and replaced my springs with some performance springs that are spacific for my weight. they also received a complete rebuild. not sure what you consider breakking the bank but they charged me a little over 600.00. The rear has the same treatment. | ||

Revealed them? Do you have photos on your pc? BTW- hey Eric, how r u? someone pulled into me on sat....his insurance is paying...I'm going complete custom this time, and not planning on getting it out for a while...year or more... | ||

NO WAY! Dang you have some crazy drivers down there. Hope you walked away with no serious injuries!? Good luck w/ the custom...Keep us posted on the progress. No unfortunately the guy is real busy and i couldn't get a chance to see them get assembled, (The valves look like little circles with screen type centers.) I tried as I wanted to know what they look like also. Next service I will know as I have all the tools and such now. They feel impressive but i have not REALY tested them yet...Maybe MBIV i can. Weather here is not working with me around here. Stay SAfe! | ||

You can always go with an Ohlins front and rear suspension. It's not cheap but everyone I know who has made the change would never go back to the stock set up. Ohlins is considered by many as the best there is. Most of the factory race teams use them. It is possible to install Ohlins cartridges in your Showa forks. That makes a pretty big improvement and is way cheaper than a 100% Ohlins set up. The stock suspension can be set up very nicely if you go to a good suspension shop. For me, I'm going to spring for the Ohlins set up just because I want it! | ||

You pretty much have two options. I seee you have a 2004 model bike. You should go ahead and upgrade to the '05+ 43mm forks instead of the 41mm ones that were on your bike. this also requires new triples I believe. You can have them rebuilt for more performance, including adding Racetech gold valves and springs for your weight. This will set you back roughly $500-700 over the stock forks. Second option would be to order a set of the Ohlins forks like on the XBRR. Top of the line forks, you might need to have them resprung, but they are fantastic. Any dealer can order them for you directly from Buell and they are expensive. Might as well order a new magnesium front wheel while you are at it. Those parts are what were on the bike stock anyway, right?  | ||

Why Ohlins? You like gold? Why not Works Performance? Or HyperPro? AST does nice work too. Ohlins is far from the end all suspension everyone hopes it is. There are better places to spend your money. Just tune the stock setup. Smokescreen |
