Before you give up on the Uly, try the 07 seat, or the low seat. I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam and have no issues handling my 06 Uly with the stock seat. The biggest obstacle to overcome is the notion that you have to be able to flatfoot a bike in order to ride it. It's just not true. | ||

Thanks May have given up too early on the 06, however, there was never a feeling of comfort with only one cheek on the seat and one foot on the ground. Thank You | ||

I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam also. I have the low seat on my 06 model Uly and I've gotten much better at being comfortable. Yes I am on the toes and balls of my feet when both are down but it only takes a little to get used to and if I need to then it has become automatic to just slide a cheek off the seat to stop a fall-over in the event I need to. Backing off some on the preload also helps. I sat on a friends brand new 07 model with the low seat and it felt a little taller than mine but he had the preload cranked all the way up because he likes a stiffer suspension. He'll learn the virtues of a softer ride once he tries it for a while. Would I like a lower saddle? Of course! Do I let it bother me enough to not have the best bike in the world? NEVER!!! 06 here with a corbin saddle or the low seat if it's raining. 30" inseam and both feet touch, with no cheek sliding. I do find that with the corbin saddle, I can slide forward in the seat a little before I stop and both feet are more solid. I love the corbin carbon for it's look and highway comfort, but for me the low seat is more comfortable in traffic. | ||

5'10" with a 29" inseam. Have an 06 with the low seat. Can get enough of the balls of my feet on the ground to be comfortable. Going to do a 350 mile round trip tomorrow to buy some great Wisconsin beer, and will report on the comfort of the low seat. Was going to buy the Long, but, thankfully, I test rode the Uly. It was love at first mile. | ||

Thanks for the input. We tired the low saddle on the 06, and did never get comfortable with the Bike. Wilbur's will lower the bike about 40 mm, but at the cost of an additional $1,000 over the price of the bike. Will try to get a demo ride on a Long and a TT before making the buying decision. It would seem as though the ULY rear sub frame will fit both the TT and the Long, as they have the same basic backbone frame. Appreciate all the input Thank You | ||

I'm going to call WildWilly out on his claim that he's doing this to "get some great WI beer" Fact: when you put two six packs of high quality beer in the topcase, you have just reduced the effort required to wheelie the bike by something like 75%(1). I do not know what happens when you put cheap beer in there, but if you send me 8 bucks, I'll do the demo and get back to you. WildWilly, fess up, you just wanted to do that 175 mile return leg with only one wheel in contact with the ground, right? ____________________ I'm 5'6" with a 30" inseam. I have the '07 seat and absolutely love it, supremely comfortable. 11 hour days are often the norm when I'm not simply commuting to work. I don't know if I could do two-up on gravel with my wife. In 10,000 miles she has been on the back only once, for about 80 miles of urban riding, and barring mechanical breakdowns, she'll never be there again. ________________________ (1) I weigh 130#. Depending on your weight, you may need more than 12 bottles of beer back there to achieve the same results. | ||

Jason: Would do the 350 miler for just about any reason, but I have 2 words for you, New Glarus. Try any brew from the New Glarus Brewing Co.and you'll be hooked. I actually plan to get three 6 packs in the top case, 2 each in the saddle bags, and a case on the seat. Oh, and if I happen to save some rubber on the front tire in the process . . . . . . .  | ||

29" inseam, the 06 didn't work, the 07 works for riding forward. Can't walk the bike backwards if there's any kind of a slope at all, however. | ||

Possibly an 07 with TT/Long Shock with the forks slid up in the tree? Appreciate everyone's input | ||

Put the SS touring seat on the TT, it will lower you about an inch and 1/4 and leave all your suspension where it is at. Plus it is only $221. If that is still too tall, you can have it shaved down by a shop. Or grab a CityX and put the Scg seat on it, and ride the hell out of it. (wait... thats what I did) | ||

360 miles today on the 06 low seat and no complaint. Tried the 06 standard seat with a passenger and it helped a little. If my passenger doesn't like the 06 low, will put the stock one on for 2 up duty. This is a 600 mile-a-day bike with no sweat. I was not real comfortable with the 06 low seat at first. Had to have the great Uly luggage and I'm glad I took the chance. Have just 900 miles on the bike but don't even think about the seat height anymore. | ||
