Yeah Drake, I looked up the custom seat the other day and its running $150. It may have been $100 at some point, but not any more. I'll let you know how it works out. I'm going to send him both my seats next week. |

Hey Duff, Here is a picture of my brothers new KTM 625 Supermoto that we talked about. As it turns out, him and a buddy of his are going to be going to Daytona for Bike Week after all.

I miss KS! There so much going on out there. Hey Tim, when are going to tackle that rear fender? It's been "just sitting there" for while now! Sam, what motor is in that thing? |

Well there are some other things that need more attention currently. Not really sure if I like the fender yet so it just sits. |

I have to put a new rear tire on it (don't ask). patch the clutch linkage, and move the pedals a little to prevent the gas one from getting stuck under the tie rods.....again. hahaha It's had a rough week at my place. Maybe Saturday! |

Duff, I could show you guys some pretty good roads in NE Oklahoma, Southern Missouri and NW Arkansas. Also, Josh Cox from Cycle Connection Buell in Joplin is hosting a Buell ONLY track day in July at Hallett. If you ride a Buell there is no cost to enter. And of course I know of a place to stay...if you come! They are pretty much renting out the track for the weekend. Ill Conduct is supposed to put on a Stunt Show there too. Good times! |

I promised a friend that I would ride 120 miles off his new 1200GS Adventure on Saturday. He broke his collarbone in 3 places racing at Daytona and will be laid up for the next several weeks. He asked me to ride the break-in miles off so he could get it in for its first service and have it back by the time he heals. Damn the luck! |

I ride everyday that it doesn't snow. Here is how my day started yesterday... Breakfast in Topeka:
Formation flying:
Then onto the Beemer because my friend did this to himself on his R6 at Daytona:
Starting miles:
Warm-up:
This thing eats miles for breakfast:
...and lunch and dinner:
I ended up as far west as Eskridge, then through Topeka and back using only secondary roads. I had a 4k rev limit. Ending miles were about 550. My ass was so numb that I forgot to take a picture. I would say that if you ever find yourself wanting one of these, definitely ride the Uly first, and then ride it again after you ride one of these. The Beemer rides like my wife's minivan drives. It's highly refined and has adequate power, but it gives you the feeling that it is allowing you to come along for the ride. You are sort of an accessory to the bike. The Uly is the polar opposite of that with an abundance of power and thus, far more fun to ride. I got on the Uly to ride home and it felt like changing out of expensive suit into normal clothes. Lee, that may not be completely fair, with having a 4K rev limit. I do think the Buell looks so much more refined with having cleaner lines. The GS looks like it has hardware hanging all over it! |

Yeah, but I had a 50-mph AND rev limit when I broke in the Uly as well. You are right in that I was not necessarily using that as a point of reference though. Be that as it may, I did not mean to say that the GS lacks power, it's just that it seems sort of late on the power curve and sort of boringly smooth at the same time. OTOH, it has a nice, "I-don't-know-how-fast-I'm-going" sort of feel. I had it up to about 75 right at the 4k mark and it felt like I was doing maybe 50. I think that is what makes it eat miles so easily. It shifts like a car too. I could not feel any detents through my boot. Sitting idle, the only way of knowing if I had shifted was to look at the gage cluster. My impression overall left me honestly feeling very happy with my decision to get the Uly instead of the GS. That was what my last new bike search had come to - GSA or Uly. My next new bike will likely be a GS, but I was going to wait until I grow up a little. This is so I can better appreciate the quiet, highly-refined comfort that is its core attribute. I forgot to add that the front suspension is awesome when braking and cornering, but it sucks for even tiny bumps. The stock seat will give you a case of ape-ass that will leave you breathless. Anybody have a time-sert kit they want to loan me? I blew out the rear spark plug the other day and found that the hole is totally stripped. The time-sert sleeve is only $2 but they want $125 for the tools. A new head is $230 and I'm not really rolling in the $$$ right now. I did look into the heli-coil but I don't think I would trust it for a spark plug in a cylinder with 10:1 compression. Plus, it would just back out the first time I tried to replace the plug. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/264568.html?1173883264 |
