I'm looking to get about another inch or so off the stock seat height on my 12Ss and it looks like the "Lightning Long Touring Seat" http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=2&CategoryID=3&Produ ctID=4069 would fit the bill nicely. Has anyone else tried this seat and if so, what did you think? | ||

I just got one. Don't waste your money. It is not any lower and it is hard as a rock. Keep the oem seat. | ||

I have the sport seat. It`s better than the one that came with the bike, but I still don`t like it. I can`t seem to set back far enough to be comfortable. I wish someone else made a seat for the XB12Ss. | ||

I just got one. Don't waste your money. It is not any lower and it is hard as a rock. Keep the oem seat Damn. I wish I had waited one more day for a reply. I put the order in this morning.  Unfortunately, my dealer stocks absolutely ZERO Buell accessories so everything is considered "special order". This means that if the seat sucks and I return it, I get bit with a restocking fee. If the seat turns out to be that bad, I'll fight the dealership on this. Thanks for the info although it's certainly not what I wanted to hear. | ||

I have the sport seat. It`s better than the one that came with the bike, but I still don`t like it. I can`t seem to set back far enough to be comfortable. I wish someone else made a seat for the XB12Ss. My main concern is the height. Ideally, I need the seat about 1" lower or even better 2" lower - but I don't want to go with an 12Scg. (Not that there's any available around my area anyway.) Based on the picture, I'm assuming the sport seat doesn't lower the seating position at all. Correct? | ||

No, I`m 6`1 and it`s still too high for me. I can touch the ground flat-footed, but it`s not comfortable on my *** or legs. | ||

I have a touring seat for my SS. My seat is still too high. I'm also 5'6". I'm taking my stock seat apart and shaving off the foam, which is like 3"+ thick, with an electric carving knife. If I shave off 2" that will be great. | ||

There are places you can take your seat to have reshaped, lowered... gell-cell, new material, etc... A friend of mide does this work. He's an upholsteral(sp?) pro... does furniture and stuff. Everyone swears buy his seats... Worth looking into? | ||

I got the sport seat BECAUSE it's taller than OEM. Firmer foam, too. It's a lot easier to slide around on the bike in the twisties with the sport seat (the stock saddle seems to velcro me in to one position). Taller seat means my legs are less "crimped" when riding, too. I'm 5'10" with a 32" inseam. Yes, I'm on tiptoe if I were dumb enough to put both feet down at stops but the bike is far more stable if I get my left foot down solidly on the ground and my right foot engages the brake to keep the bike from rolling. My feet are on the ground less than 1% of the time that I'm on the bike. I bought the saddle to be comfortable 99% of the time, not 1% of the time. | ||

Yes, I'm on tiptoe if I were dumb enough to put both feet down at stops Kinda' harsh don't you think? You might not put both feet down at a stop (I don't either) but what about times when you might need to walk the bike and there's the slightest incline? | ||

Then I get off the bike and put both feet solidly on the ground. I get a kick out of watching these guys try and paddle walk big heavy bikes all the time. What, you lose points if you get off and push?? What's up with that? You know how you can cure yourself of trying things like paddle walking? Ride a BMW Boxer! The first time you try to paddle walk one of those things out of a parking spot and your foot slips and you SLAM your shin into the cylinder will be enough to convince you. Worked for me! I got the touring seat on my Ss, it does lower you an inch, its also much better on the passengers, they aren't sliding into you. I'm 5'10" and it can barely get both feet on the ground, my heels are about a 1.2 inch above the ground, as far as comfort I can't tell the different, what I like about this one is that you can only slide back so far, instead of having the feeling of sliding off the bike. | ||

Thats with the Touring seat, Stock I had a hard time getting both feet to the ground, yeah my legs are short. Although with my big azz harley boots it "looks" like I have both feet flat on the ground on the touring seat, at least for me I feel a lot more comfortable with the seat being lowered. | ||

I’m 5’8 (just) and am really happy with the height of mine with the standard “long” seat & suspension setup for me. Also very comfortable when riding two up. Perhaps I’m just too used to being a short arse? I have read about the seat height elsewhere so it’s obviously a bigger issue than I thought. | ||

I have read about the seat height elsewhere so it’s obviously a bigger issue than I thought. It's not so much your height as much as your inseam that determines if the seat is too tall or low. (See DrFudd's post as an example.) I don't know how "big" an issue it is with other riders, but spending time on a Low Rider has me spoiled. I rarely put both feet down at a stop. BUT, I'd rather paddle walk a bike whenever possible than have to get off and push. Guess I'm just funny that way. | ||
