I got a 03 xb9r about a week ago. I love it. I find every reason to ride it somewhere. The only thing that bugs me about it is the useless stock mirrors I have. I find my self either looking over my shoulder or passing a car then cutting in. Neither of which I think is really safe. All I can see is my shoulders and not much more. I am usually riding in moderate traffic so mirrors are a must. I hear crg lanesplitters are good but is $150 for L/R worth it? What are my alternatives? |

I have the same bike, and I had the same problem. I replaced the mirrors with a pair of mirrors from a newer XB9R. The newer mirrors have longer stalks. They're long enough so that I don't have to move my elbows out of the way anymore. I don't know what year the mirrors changed -- 2004? |

There are cheaper barends out there. I have a 2007 (longer stalk) and the visibility didn't seem to be too bad, but I'm hitting up a bicycle shop tonight for some bicycle barends that sell for something like $7 a piece. I had them on my XL and they worked great. |
