Here is the bottom line on Dainese. If you have a Ducati, you simply MUST wear Dainese. If not, you CAN wear it, but you don't have to. Problem: If you are riding your Buell, and wearing your Dianeses, EVEN MORE people will ask you if you are riding a Ducati. Not there is anything the matter with that.  Of course if you are getting tired of your Buell, and planning on getting a 1098, ( and frankly who isn't?), then you can feel free to order your Dainese now, to get them broken in before the BIG day. PS: Before they arrive, you will want to practise the Italian way of saying "Dainese" It is not pronounced "Danes", or anything similar. Very poor form. It is sort of "Die - in -A -Z". In England we say Dai-neasy. Having spoken to Silvano Celi I can reliably inform you he pronounces it the same way  | ||

I bought a used set off ebay last year for track day use and they are excellent, very good fit, very comfortable, and unfortunately I have crash tested them and a 100mph lowside resulted in 1 scuff that could have easily come from a drunken stumble lol | ||

What's up with the Dainese / Ducati thing? A guy I worked with that rode a Duc swore by Dianese. What's the connection? I'd never even heard of them.  ~SM | ||

I wear Dianese leathers and they are good quality stuff, but expensive retail. ebay's great, saved me tons of cash (I got a one piece suit and a two piece set of leathers for under 1K total - different auctions over a one year period), you just have to keep looking til you find the deal. The two piece leathers were brand new with tags, cost me a little over $500. Got the pants first then found the jacket. | ||

They sell a lot of stuff that would be half the price (or less) if it didn't have the Dainese logo on it. You have to search for the real-McCoy-made-in-Italy equipment, but once you find it the quality and attention to detail is stellar. | ||

I'm looking at getting an 07 Santa Monica. The fit is perfect and I want something that feels like it will protect me. I have to say that the price is a bit steep though. | ||

dainese is a great brand, with top notch stuff. i only have a gear bag (that a moto shop in greece gave me after i bought sidi boots there) with the dainese logo and not any "real" stuff  D | ||

Woo-hoo nice jacket ! What colour ? If the fit is perfect the decision is mostly financial, the Santa Monica is a great jacket. You might want to try it with the Wave back protector, sometimes the back of the jacket can be a little baggy without one. | ||

Black and I will get a wave protector when I buy it. The only thing that I`m not so sure about is the aerodynamic hump on the back. I want to be able to get off my bike and be able to walk around without people staring. I`ve considered the Bora, but it also has a hump. | ||

I have a Bora and the hump is most excellent  it makes a big difference over 50 mph ! But you might not get the full benefit if you tend to sit upright on your Lightning. It also makes wearing a rucksack kindof tricky. Still worth every penny IMO. | ||

I have the Crossroads 0 degree bars. Just got them install last Saturday. The seating position is completely different. I'm getting used to them and I'm sure that if I buy a Dainese there won't be a problem with moving air over my back. |
