I am just wondering if anyone has tried to cover the cheese grater with anything , mainly to block rain splash from tires. I was told from a friend that he thinks there is a part that will snap in, anyone know about it? ALso, has anyone either used it or home made one...if so how well/not-so-well does it work?

The new part from the TT should snap right in. I am in the process of celebrating the cheese grater on the tail end. I have a couple of mods that I will post pics of. I am keeping the longer fender to relocate the turn signals further back on the bike so I can get my bags on the bike and carry some gear. I will post pics of the versions and the mock ups (maybe even do a bad web vote)

Some really great ideas, just wondering for the ones that do have the grater covered....have you noticed much of an improvement in wet road conditions? Seems like right now my back gets soaked from the splash off the tires. Does covering the grater limit it much??

I'm sorry to say that covering the grater makes no difference in wet conditions. I was bummed. I installed a mud flap that did help but did not cure the problem. It boils down to the tapered shape of the rear "fender". The tire is wider than the taper so unless you change that you are going to get wet.

If one still gets wet with the grater on why not cut it off?
