"because we're tired of getting stuck with un-needed parts. No one wants stock parts and YOU GUYS always order this stuff and then never come back and we get stuck with unwanted parts...so we don't do that no more...it's a "law" around here..." That's about the same drill they gave me when I ordered a tank bag shortly after I got my Ulysses from them. It was the last item I purchased from them. DAve |

Yeah...I'm Bumpus bound for sure. I'll post up how that goes, but if the phone call was any indication it'll be good. Got about 80 miles in today...it was a bit on the cold side. My fingertips mostly paid for it, but it was nice to be out again ridin' |

Well I'm out for IMS in atlanta this weekend...and my bike is tore apart right now, but I may have it back together by saturday...BUT then the weather doesn't look overly promising either... May not end up riding at all this weekend! That would not be cool...this warm weather is killing me!!! |

I did some minor work to it over the winter and now I have all the plastics with a friend who owns/runs a graphics company...he's doing some work to them. It should look pretty cool. I'll post up a pic or two once it's done...(he said by today but I'm not sure and don't want to rush him too much! Let us know how the show was...really wanted to go but 5-month old babies dictate alot without saying too much! |

Thanks fellas. It's 3M Vinyl graphics. Same stuff used to cover cars, buses, and vehicles like that. I friend of mine who owns Metro Signs over on University Dr. did it for me. He's got some impressive skills... |

Hey guys, I know this is REALLY short notice, but I am going to ride today. I will be at the Sonic on 72/Jordan at 10am with a few others from the Tennessee Valley Sport bike club. If you can make it, see you there. |

Sorry Russ...just read this and couldn't have made it even if I read it earlier...maybe next time. Well, my run up to Bumpus HD in Murfreesboro yesterday was a partial success... The ride up was nice...went the back way up 110 and 231 thru Shelbyville....pretty nice road... Ride back was brutal...30-40 MPH cross wind down the interstate (I was running late). I couldn't feel my right hand when I pulled into the garage... The service was good. As promised it took about 2.5 hrs with the kickstand recall. Bumpus is from here forward, my servicing dealership. I recommend them to anyone in the local area. Even freezing my butt off it was worth it. Now for the interesting part of the story. Their resident Buell Tech came out to me in the waiting area and asked "what have you done to this uly?" I was thinking oh crap, what now??? Apparently when he went in to do my TPS reset (at my request) it was all out of whack, to include the AFV reading at 80% instead of the 100%. I told him all of the performance mods I had done...07 airbox, 07 ECM re-flash, and the Drummer Econo. That was it. Well the bike was idling like crap...fluctuating between 500 and 1300 RPM before the O2 sensor kicked in and then only got a little better. Here's the weird part...it had never had a problem idling before this... The bike ran okay on the way home...no noticeable issues, except it backfires quite a bit more on decel. It always has (drummers tend to do that some), but never very bad. It is now much more noticeable. I am worried about the idle...now it almost stalls out and then jumps up to 1300 RPM when it's cold, like it's about to foul a plug or something. Here's another weird thing. He says there is absolutely no difference between the 06 and 07 fuel maps on the ECM. If there were, HD would have to change the part number on them...and they both have the same part number in the system. So, that in theory, removes the ECM as part of the issue and now it's only between the airbox and pipe, and the TPS setting... I'm completely at a loss on what to do. They said they'd check it out again for me when I go back up for the bank angle sensor recall, but I'm not sure if it will help. The guy offered some theories (about the AFV and that sort of thing), and he did put everything back where it it's "supposed" to be but now the bike runs differently... So, that's my completely disorganized rant. You guys have any thoughts? Ideas? I'm thinking about asking some of the experts at MBIV to take a look at it. I heard someone was bringing their laptop with them, so they may be able to diagnose it better as well as another TPS reset if that's needed.... |

I'm moving up to Huntsville from Columbus this summer and have read most the post here just a few ?'s. It seems that the closest Buell support isn't the greatest but can they do the simple stuff ok like tps re-sets and the like? Right now I have to do a 2 hour drive to Macon (best service I've ever had for Buells)or 2 to D'ville or Dothan AL. If you ever need good service the Macon guys even called me about the recall on the lean sensor for my ULY the day before I got it in the mail. How is the riding in the area? I ride as long as it is above 32 everyday to work. I'm getting into the longdistance rides does anyone here do the long rides? I have 1 SS1000 this Jan and looking to do the few MTF rides in the area this spring. Look forward to riding up in the area. Just look for the black Uly with all the bags and Alaska tags |

Rotorhead, The local shop is kind of a pain. They don't seem to want to deal with Buell customers. Now I did have my TPS reset there while I waited. I did call ahead and talked to Allen (the resident buell tech on site). He said he could do it, and he did just that. He is a good guy, and doesn't seem to share the apathy for buells like the rest of the shop. It sounds like Flyor just had a good visit with Bumpus, which is about a 1-1/2 hour drive up into Tennessee, on some really fun roads. We have some great roads up here. We are about a 20-30 min drive from the mountains. Great riding all around. We will be happy to see another bueller up here... although we all have yet to get together for a ride.. lol. Flyor, It is hard to say what could be up. You said it is running fine, just idling funny? I wonder if it could be a plug wire, or maybe check your ground connection. There will plenty of knowledgeable folks up at MBIV, and I believe they will have the equipment there for doing a tps reset if you need it. My buell backfired like crazy on decel after I put the special ops pipe in. The race ECM cleared that up pronto. |

The idle should have been set after the TPS reset. It should be solid and not wandering. The AFV (as far as I know) will vary based on components and air conditions. It is a learned value and is not static. If ya pass through B'ham any time soon, we'll do a TPS reset. I'm a couple lights off I-20 near Irondale. DAve |

Another misplaced Alaskan Rotorhead? I was AF and stationed at Elmendorf from '88 to '96. Warner Robins from '84-'87. Retired from the AF as MSgt in 2003. Though a turn of events I'm in B'ham now. Lots of good events here at Barber's Racetrack Offer is open for TPS reset. DAve |

Dave - Thanks on the offer. I may just have to take you up on that. I'm going to ride it the next couple of days and get a feel for it. The part that has me concerned is he did do a TPS reset and showed me the values....and then showed me the weird idling. I guess we'll see... Funny thing...I just got back from Warner Robins tonight! Rotorhead - welcome to the area. I think you'll enjoy it here. Compared to Benning, it is not an "army town". Then again, I have very fond memories of Benning. |

Dave- Just talked to Kevin Drum and we've figured out what's up with the bike... The symptoms the bike is displaying "screamed" to Kevin that the throttle was not properly backed off to true zero when the TPS reset was performed. ...the ride into work this morning was not pretty... Basically it needs to be done again correctly, with throttle truly zeroed out without a doubt (he gave me a good technique to make sure of that very thing). So, with that in mind, I either need to to do it as soon as I can or risk it and wait til MBIV. I don't want to impose on you but do you have any time over the next two weekends that we might be able to try it then? Thanks, Scott |

Absolutely -- As Kevin probably told ya, the idle adjuster has to be backed out till the butterfly feels like it's almost sticking in the throttle body. Al (American Sport Bike) documented the process pretty darn well. Once you zero the TPS with the butterfly "really' closed, you then readjust the idle. Some get hung up on a voltage measurement after zeroing the TPS but it's really just to get the butterfly close to what it reads on idle. PM me and we'll come up with a day. DAve |

DAVe, Did you get Friday afternoon off? It may work out that we can just swing by your place enroute to Suches. My dad and I are linking up somewhere on I-20... That may be easier than trying to do the TPS reset up here. let me know what you think. Scott |

Hey, it was great to meet some of you guys at March Badness. Scott, I'd like to get some contact info for that friend of yours who did the graphics on your bike. It looks sharp, and I've got all sorts of ideas about stuff I might put on mine. Having seen about a half dozen other black Ulys, I'm thinking I need to do something to make it stand out in the crowd... Hope you all had a safe trip home. |

DAve - What happened man? I looked for you all weekend...asking for DAve...posts with a DA. Were y'all staying somewhere low-key? My dad and I camped right next to the pool...across from Ratyson. Seanp - His name is Jeff Waldorf his email is metrosigns@bellsouth.net He can take care of you for sure. It was good to meet ya and hang out. Hope to meet up with you again. Man, if they pull of Fall Badness...I'm definitely getting the time off to do that one... |

Thanks for the info - I'm going to send him an email in the next day or two. Looks like I'll be attending FSU for the next two years, which is great - it means I'm only 5 or 6 hours from Suches! So I guess I'll see y'all in a year or less. |
