Well, after following some advise found here on Badweb, I have yet again rerouted my crankcase breather lines. Before, I had them T'd together and run down behind my left heel guard, with the filter attached directly to the top of the line 6" from the end. With that setup, I was still getting some oil leakage out of the filter and on to my rear hugger.

So, I bought some more hose and routed the filter WAAAY up into the seat, just behind the seat latch, with the collection hose still behind the heel guard. Luckily I wrapped a sock around it just in case, because now I'm getting oil from the filter there too! How in the world does the oil travel uphill that far instead of running down into the collection hose???

I guess I'm going to have to buy a catch can, but I see on American Sportbike that a filter is still recommended. Does that mean I'm STILL going to run the risk of oil escaping through the filter? If so, I don't see the point.

Can anyone offer some help here? I need a good alternative before I wind up getting oil in my freakin' fuse box!

I ran my breather line down to just below my oil cooler and stuck the filter on the very end of the hose. No collection. I just let it spew where it will and every month or two, I wash the bike and then I ride it.

Put your finger over the end of the breather, you'll feel it "puffing"

Try putting a PCV filter on the end of it. (any autoparts store about $15 max)

I purchased the catch can that mounts onto the oil cooler and a K&N breather filter and have no problems whatsoever with oil coming out of the filter. Talk to Al, he's got what you need.

I made a catch can from a small red MSR fuell bottle and mounted it just behind the oil cooler. It looks cool. I was asked if I'm running nos. The filter side runs up under the seat to a small K&N filter. No oil seeping yet. Its amazing the gunk this can collects.
