Cooling fan just will not come on. Noticed it yesterday while out riding. The check engine light now remains on after start up now. Are these two connected somehow? I rode the bike 100 miles back home and had no overheating issues, but I know that the engine was not being properly cooled. Have I damaged the bike? What could be causing the fan problems? Could it be as simple as a fuse, or is is more likely that the fan just died after four years of use? How long can the bike be ridden under such circumstances? | ||

I'd say your best bet is to get the codes off the ECM so you can see exactly what your baby's trying to tell you. | ||

Check your fuses too. When my fan bearing went, it shorted out, blew a fuse and the check engine light came on. It was summer and I had to ride home fanless. No issues. You should be ok. | ||

My fan sucked up a candy wrapper once. Burnt the fan motor out. Around $60 IIRC. But yeah, check your fuses, and your trouble codes. It's probably something pretty simple. These bikes really are simple to work on. |
