I'm not affiliated in any way, but it looks like this place is serious about moving some bikes. I'm pretty sure selling a new, untitled HD or Buell on ebay is against corporate policy. Maybe I read that wrong somewhere. If these sales go through it isn't any wonder our bikes have such a high depreciation. Good thing I enjoy it so much. NUTS | ||

Its questionable if you look at it from a dealer support point of view. I've heard lots of people bitch that they have no dealer support. Yet when you see that steal of a price you go out of your way to get the bike. WITH NO DEALER SUPPORT. Bitch all you want when you need parts noone here will listen. | ||

Travis: I'll give you my PERSONAL OPINION based on buying 9 Buells of my own over the last 20 years. First. . . there is an old saying "if it looks to good to be true it probably is". A proper appreciation of that increases with age and every "as good as a Strat" I pass on. Here's what I have always done. Go to your local dealer. Heck, take the ad if you want. Tell them this looks too good to be true, but it'd damn tough, given your intense desire to get that load of excess cash removed from your pocket, but you do want the best deal you can get. I suspect you'll get their best deal. At that point you weigh the options and make the decision you're willing and able to live with. Over the years, on my Dressers, Low Riders, Buells, KTM's, Sportster and everything I bought. . I called Mike or Denny Patterson, told them I wanted the bike, wasn't going to bicker and ask them to give me the best fair price they could. There is a reason Topeka HD/Buell has MORE AWARDS THAN ANY HD DEALER IN THE WORLD. I've never had one moment of regret. Good luck and keep us posted on what you do. | ||

Travis: Good read. . . here's the way I see it . . you are a smart guy, go do a smart thing. Make the best deal you can, develop a lasting and cordial relationship and screw the cognitive dissonance. If . . in the case of this auction . . these folks are willing to violate a written contract with Buell/HD . . what on God's green earth makes you think they'll be honest and forthright with you? Court, Topeka may have more HD awards, but who has more Buell awards than this?  That's only 9 of the 10 Pegasus awards that Hals HD has won over the last 11 years. No other dealer in the world has this.  | ||

That's correct. Topeka had their first Pegasus award 7 years before Hal's carried Buells. Both are the creme de'le creme of dealerships in my book. . . besides. . . Hal's is gonna fix me pancakes and Topeka NEVER did that! | ||

Those Buells are for sale from Freedom Harley, which is where I purchased my Ss from. I didn't buy the one they listed on ebay, but I contacted them to follow up on their listing, and ended up buying a brand new one. I have personal experience with this dealership, and I know they're legit. If you have questions, call them up and ask for Dana, he'll set you up. 330.494.2453 I still showed up in person, so who knows. I suppose it's effective advertising. I work at a bicycle shop, and manufacturers(Trek especially) are very strict about eBay sales. Most of the time though, that affects the current model year, so as soon as 07's came out, 06's were no longer under the contract. Maybe Buell uses the same principle? I used to live in Ohio and know that you do not have to be present to buy a bike in the state. That is why you see so many Ohio dealers blowing out bikes on cycletrader and Ebay. I've bought several there after I left 10 years ago. Texas on the other had says you have to physically be at the dealer to buy any type of vehicle. Just my experience, but I'm no law expert. | ||

I stopped by Freedom Harley this past weekend and this is a 1st rate successful Harley Dealership. They just happen to be in an area where Buells do not sell. They are dropping the Buell line after several years of low sales volume. The Buells for sale are the last of their current inventory. I plan to support my local Buell dealer for parts and service, but why pass up a good deal on a new Buell. |
