I have had the valve cover gaskets replaced in my rear jug 2x. I now have a leak in the front cover. What gaskets work best and at this time should I switch to XB covers?
Thanks for your help.
Andrew

the common leak is at the base of the rocker box. between the box and the head
the standard XL kit has steel bottom
gaskets, high back pressure could cause a leak but I would expect leaks in other places first

What condition are the mating surfaces if the box / head joint any nicks? or gouges?

XB covers are great and reduce the amount of breather "puke", however, some bikes have an issue with the rear breather hitting the tank. I went with an XB front and new style internally-baffled '04+XL in the rear. The XL style breather isn't as effective as the XB...but at least it doesn't leak due to the pressure of the fuel tank/vibration upon it.

I've not taken any thing apart yet and the front is difficult to see- but I do now have oil dripping down the motor mount and onto my header- I didn't before my last ride. These are the original gaskets (02 X1W) I'll pull the tank tomorrow and see what I can see.

Thanks-
