Imonabuss, Dude I don't recall stating I wanted a replica of a tube frame Buell? Brutale, TNT, Morini style streetfighter ring any bells? As a guy who thinks TVR's are the cat's meow in sophistication, I can see how Rocket likes tubers. Is this patronising comment really necessary? TVR's are sophisticated handling sportscars but TVR handling is founded on simple traditional all round independent double wishbone suspension and steel tube frame chassis. No ABS, ESP, TC or any similar computer controlled sophistication. Power steering yes. Sophisticated instrumentation yes. Sophisticated engine design no. Rocket loves this in his sportscar, yes, but in no way does Rocket think TVR is sophisticated, and I like that TVR can build world beating sportscars in a very unsophisticated way. That is their greatness in a nutshell my learned colleague. Nor does Rocket want to showcase a HD engine or desire to indulge in chrome. In fact, Rocket is probably the only rational thinker in this whole argument as he clearly understands what constitutes a REAL MOTORCYCLE and a REAL SPORTSCAR. Rocket |

Hey,I like my Tubers--and until you make something else with that much sex appeal--and a better motor--I'll keep riding my Tuber. ???The shock absorber looks dumb underneath??? What happened to mass centralization, getting weight and mass down lower???I am confused, I thought this was "innovative". |

Bucketman, I was in fact an honors psychology student and am still a member of Psi Chi, the national honor society for Psychology majors. The odd thing was that I wasn't a Psych major, I just took all of the classes. However, there is no need for fancy clinical terms here, we can just call it what it is, weaseling. Let's face it, there will never be another tube-frame Buell street bike. They are obviously going to give that field over to the mother ship, witness the new HD XR1200. You know that perfectly well, so as I predicted, you have set yourself up to have something to bitch about for the foreseeable future. |

Bucketman? Tell you what's clear to me. Nowhere in this thread have I said I want Buell to revert back to a tube frame. Read the f*cking thread again before you accuse me of anything. When the penny drops, and you understand what I am saying (here's a clue - I WOULD LIKE TO SEE BUELL BUILD A WHOLE NEW BIKE AND NOT SIMPLY PLACE A 72 DEGREE V TWIN O.H.C FOUR VALVES PER HEAD MOTOR IN AN XB TYPE FRAME) perhaps you could post up the apology you owe me. If not it will be you, the failed psychology major, who is trolling, and that would explain a great deal wouldn't it. Rocket |

The question is whether the current XB frame design is the final word in development. If not, I suspect that a new engine would find a home in a new frame configuration. Rocket, I don't think you have much to worry about for the long term future. They might put a new engine in the XB frame, but I would doubt it. A new configuration will require a bottom up redesign, frame included. The tubers were cool. The XBs are cool. Both were designed around the engine. Whatever comes next will be as purpose built. |

i think at this point all the speculation is just that...speculation.....whatever happens its gonna be interesting...funny if u look at the history of other bikes rarely do they stir up so much controversy...some of the italian bikes sometimes do but not nearly as much as the buell...the most the other bike guys have to talk about is a slipper clutch, new gp style under the bike exhaust, fly by wire, traction control,or a steering damper added for the new year and maybe a new color if their lucky....we sure do know how to party if nuthin else . the buell brand will hit the big time if erick stays on the same path he's been going in...then what...everybodys gonna be bummed cause their bike aint unique enough...personal opinion, new motor or not things wont change all that much im betting we will pretty much see the XBRR in streetable form....just my opinion. |

Yeah, the VStrom guys were like "Ooooooh! I got have those rubber heel protectors on the 07's!" Buell seems to move in evolutionary leaps. I hope (an suspect) the next leap will make the XBs look as dated as the XBs did the tubers. |

Whatever Buell does, I hope they don't ruin the handling. I'm all for a more powerful bike, but if it means a longer wheelbase, more weight, more maintenance, or more complexety....I'll pass. The current engine is at most, adequate. It's one of the few sporty bikes out there with more chassis than it has engine. Typically it's the other way around. Specs sell bikes, and manufacturers know that. So they spend all their R&D money on the engine and the chassis lags behind. (Message edited by chadhargis on February 26, 2007) |

They look very garage made That's just a cheap way of saying 'traditional looks'. Buell use to build traditional style, but tradition doesn't sell mainstream. The XB is a 'modern' design to appeal to a larger market segment. Some would call that engineering advancement. Others might be more blunt and see it as selling out. Rocket |

Others might be more blunt and see it as selling out. selling out? hah! show me one other bike that takes on the looks (and character) of an XB. i would not have been lured to Buell if they didn't make the 'engineering advances' from the tubers. |

sooo does that mean honda sold out when they discontinued the 400 four....or suzuki the gsx series....maybe yamaha took the easy way out when they stopped production of the RD/RZ bikes...well that wasnt their choice but u see what i mean....all things must progress....just like cars the bikes get tested at the track we see trickle down of race R&D ....to say the XB is selling out then i guess erik and harley totaly sold out when they made a sportster into a tube frame streetfighter....wow ur kinda backasswards...most bike models have progressed because their predessors werent as safe, relibale, or didnt handle nearly as well...having ridden all of the above mentioned bikes in one form or another il take a CBR1000RR over an old 400 or 550 four anyday great bikes...handled like dog crap on a stick and gutless by todays standards i dunno bout u but if i highside my bike i dont want a big steel fender comming at me with a big ole glass headlight and blinkers the size of footballs....ur tube frame buell is a nifty bike looks dandy and im sure it sounds nice...id love to have one...not for everyday use....the XB brought me into the fold....love ur tuber....leave my XB out of ur ranting...its kinda fruitless ...XB a sellout....thats just stupid....imo. i wonder how many corvettes would still sell today if they were exactly the same as the were in 57 ,,twas a bitchin car back in the day but its big brother would tear it apart,,u might be the one and only person driving it eh. |

some might see rocket as a sellout for ridin a buell....i dont think the old schoolers that started the streetfighter movement rode buells....isnt the streetfighter kind of a progression from the cafe racers of yore....strap urself onto a norton or an old triumph/bsa/ whatever then see how glad u are to get on ur mechanicaly foward thinking buell....i love old bikes but that half an inch of suspension and heavy steering gets old after a while. |
