Am I reading this correct?

http://www.hillbilly-motors.com/html/buell_raceparts_news.html

That this is new primary sprockets and chain in non standard ratios for XB9 & XB12?

I have always wanted to try a few less teeth in my primary drive on my XB9 - something I know can be done easy if I had a 12 by installing the 9's ratios, but up to now there has not been any lower ratio than the 9's sprockets as far as I am aware so is this (the hillbilly new parts ad) what I have been looking for and if so what ratio would be about 10% less teeth/10% more torque.

Excellent... (said in the voice of Mr Burns)

I see a 26 tooth sprocket listed and am thinking this may be the one I want. If I can recall correctly, 29 teeth is the XB9's standard size and 31 the XB12 ? hmm not sure on it actually?

Howdy!

XB-12 has 38 teeth on the Engine Sprocket.
XB-9 (Sportster 883) has 34 teeth.

Both the XB-12 and the XB-9 use a 57 tooth Clutch Sprocket.

Dropping four teeth from an XB-12 works out to a change of about 10.5%.

Dropping 8 teeth from a 34 tooth XB-9 sprocket works out to a change of about 23.5%.

I do not know if the Euro bikes have different sprockets. The above stats are for US bikes.

Hope that helps!

Ok thanks Asdf, so to drop about 10% I would need a 30 tooth sprocket by the looks?

Thanks also Xldevil, forgive my lack of knowledge on this. I see Revperf have a 30 tooth sprocket suit 91-up-XL, I'm guessing then this will fit my '04 XB9? and then I would need a custom length chain to fit?

Just one thing I have noticed:- Getting the sprocket out of the alternator magnets can be a pain. I have got hold of another one and now changing from one ratio to the other is much easier and quicker.......Fulgur.
