Pirelli Diablo Corsa IIIs are the best tires I've ever used as far as traction, cornering, and mileage are concerned. They're absolutely phenomenal in wet weather too. | ||

The Corsa III and the M3 are the same tire with a different tread pattern as far as I know. Pirelli and Metzeler are the same company. I use the M3's and they work very well. Held up well at the racetrack too. | ||

Yeah, I've always found the best price at http://www.americanmototire.com too. The last time I ordered my Corsa III's, they were out of 190 rears though, so I got a 180 instead. Otherwise, they've been great and have ordered five sets from them so far. | ||

What sort of mileage can you expect out of these tires? I am thinking of moving up from my Blast, which tires are about 1/3 the cost, and last about 4000-5000 miles. I ride about 12K a year, but mostly commuting, so it is not hard wear. I buy my tires at http://www.americanmototire.com, currently running Avons which feel and last longer than the stock Dunlops. Out of the five sets I've used on my bike thus far, I've tried a 190/50 once. I didn't notice any difference in the handling between it and the 180/55 Corsa III. Admittedly, I did buy the bigger tire once just for looks. I think part of this may be the Corsa III profile though. It's much rounder than the old D208s I ran the first three tire changes, so even with the wider profile they performed better in cornering than the D208 180/55. Granted, where I live there aren't a lot of good curvy roads to ride, so maybe I just don't have enough experience. I can say that the first time I got on my bike with the Corsa III's mounted, I almost fell over and actually had to put a foot down when turning out of the dealership parking lot because they turn so much better than the Dunlops. They literally fall into turns by comparison. I'm hoping when I ride at MBIV I'll finally get to see what these tires (and the bike) are really built for. You guys don't laugh when I show up with my shiny new condition knee sliders that have never touched the pavement and my big thick chicken strips. Hoping we'll remedy that situation by the time the weekend's over. | ||

I'm looking to purchase new tires for my bike in a week or so. I doubt I will ever see a track day, but want something that is solid in the corners. Currently running the stock Dunlops. Other than what has been mentioned here...any new tires coming out in the Spring? | ||

Just replaced the stock Dunlops with Michelin's new Pilot Power 2CT (that's the dual compound version - 20% softer on the edges) and they are unbelievable. What a difference! These things stick like glue and heat up a lot faster. Just another tire to choose from. Found a great deal from RideNow on Ebay. By buying a combo package from them I practically got the front tire for free compared to m.s.r.p.'s. | ||

In comparing the Michilin dual compound vs. the Corsas, I believe you will find that the Corsas have significant more soft stuff on the sides (like close to double). This would make me feel more confident as I get the tackier surface at less severe lean angles and stay off the harder center. | ||

In comparing the Michilin dual compound vs. the Corsas, I believe you will find that the Corsas have significant more soft stuff on the sides (like close to double). This would make me feel more confident as I get the tackier surface at less severe lean angles and stay off the harder center. The 2CTs softer compound is about 50 mm on each side of the rear tyre and as a result the Michelins retain their profile as they wear. I'm halfway through my second 2CT rear and it doesn't show any signs of squaring off. Then again, I haven't ridden in a straight line for over a year  | ||

I'd prefer to buy tires from my local brick'n'mortar, but when I can buy a set for less than half price in the States... Talking to the owner of one local dealer, he says his wholesale cost on tires is higher than US retail. And beyond that, there's logistics--the local guys prefer to sell what they stock, which is usually Bridgestone or Dunlop. Last spring, I was jonesing to take advantage of the Pirelli tire deal (buy the rear, get the front free) but when the dealership called the distributor they were told I'd have to wait 6 weeks for a Pirelli Diablo Strada rear. I bought a pair of Conti RA's from Tire Express for less than I would have paid for the one rear in Canada, had 'em shipped to a UPS depot across the line in Washington State, and had new tires in my hands in under a week. BTW, this isn't just tires. The same dealer says he loses a lot of ATV sales to the States, too--guys can take a weekend trip to Spokane and save $3000 on the price of a new one. | ||

I have found that the Michelin pilot powers work just fine and have gotten over 4k mileage out of em. I run these tires to the edges and get great feedback. My buddy ran the triple corse's on his 999s and while they worked fantastic it was towards the end of their life (75% wear) where they got extremely loose on him. he now runs the 2ct's and swears by em. Myself as i live in Fresno, ca where road temps hover over the 100 degree mark from late spring to early fall prefer the Michelin pilot powers for their consistency in our hot weather and long wear, by pure sport tire standards. | ||

I have used Diablo Stradas didn't get to go a full round with them but got about 3000 before Daves threw a eye bolt in front of my rear tire when I went on a test drive and it punctured it, Pilot Sports 3500 TOPS. They definitely held on well while they had life. Next I will be trying out the Pilot Roads. I hear nothing but good about the Roads. |
