I recently purchased some HVMP bar weights and was hoping to elicit some suggestions on how to easily remove the stock endcaps. I'm just trying to get some ideas on how to do it without damaging the endcaps. Thanks |

They are just plastic, I would work a screwdriver under the edge of it until you can grab on to it. I pulled mine out to install the Polly heaters. They are no big deal. Even if you damage them completely, they are like $.23ea to replace. |

Mine didn't even take that. Just grabbed and pulled. They popped right out. |

If you don't care about damaging the end caps, you can thread a sheet metal screw in them and grab with pliers. |

I yanked mine out with pliers. If you damage one, the replacement is $1.87. Getting a new one into the bar is an interesting challenge because the plastic is very hard and the rings don't compress. The trick I found was to heat it up with a lighter to soften the plastic and then tap it in with a mallet. |

No tools required. Just pull. |

I added these bar weights and LOVE THEM!! Removal of the end caps was very easy. Just grab the narrow section with some needle nose plyers and use a small hammer to tap them out. They come out fine and ready to go back, but why once you have the HVMP's you will not go back!! |

Can I ask the obvious question? Why did you decide on bar end weights and how much mass does each weight have ? |

Bar end weights are the best way (if you've eliminated all other mechanical causes of vibration) to reduce the resonant frequency of your handlebars. Each HVMP Extra Heavy weight weighs in at about 17-18 ounces. Slightly smaller ones are available but they won't work with the Uly handguards. |

So the extra heavy ones work with the hand guards? What's the best place to find them? |

Just finished installing the bar weights. Took all of 20 minutes. I used the needle nose and hammer suggestion by Bondo1007. The endcaps came out with no problems. The install was simple. Pretty much a drop-in product. The only adjustment I needed to make was the spacing for the handguards. On the throttle side, you just need to be a little more careful and ensure that you do not impinge on the throttle movement. Definitely a high quality product. Just a heads up, if you do decide to purchase the product from their website you will need to have a PayPal account. Thanks everybody for the suggestions!! |

Stewadi, HVMP will take checks or Money Orders also. Also, I think having a PayPal account is mandatory. You can do one time transactions as far as I know. |

It doesn't cost anything to have a PayPal account. Why wouldn't you have one? |

I did happen to have a PayPal account for items I have purchase in the past. It just took me awhile to remember my info because I don't use it that often. The purchase did go smoothly and they shipped it the same day I ordered it. |

Be sure to check security of the allen head bolts frequently! My left side weight was hanging in just by the grip of the hand guard one day. I pulled the weight out to inspect and found an oily film on the rubber. Cleaned it off and inside the bar with Brakleen. Snugged it down and have kept a close eye on it since. Would be a good idea to keep the supplied allen wrench handy. |

great product I like mine. Now if I could just ride again. 14" of snow here, and no prospect of it melting any time soon. |

Anyone know of a bar end weight that will work with both the Uly hand guards AND the Polly Heaters? |

I thought there was a rider on here that is using the pollies and HVMP's.I haven't got around to installing the polly heaters(should have time as cold and crappy as it is in Iowa).I was under the assumption they would work together just fine. The stalks on the HVMP's aren't that long as to pose a problem I wouldn't think, but I have been gnorw before. We have had this discussion before and yes the HVMP's will work with the Polly's fine. There are a few people on here that are running the combo without issue. I have been overly happy with the Polly's and will order the HVMP's when money allows. |

No, I think we had the discussion before, but that no one was running them because the in bar stem was too long (like over three inches long). If there is a person out there using the Polly heaters with the HVMP bars, PLEASE SPEAK UP!!!!!!! |

Have you checked with Pso? He claims to be running both. Do a "Polly HVMP" search for the links. |

I had forgotten he was using them. I'll need to order a set and see what happens. JMHinkle, are you still planning on adding them? Are you still going to be at MBIV? |

How do the grip heaters compared to heated gloves? I love the warmth of my HD heated gloves, but I hate the bulk. I feel very disconnected from the motorcycle while wearing them. Ft_bstrd, you should definitely order a set so I can try them out at MBIV. |

The Polly heaters are scorchers. I will be ordering a set of the bar ends soon. You are welcome to try them. You gonna get the M2 up and running for MBIV? |

Oh yeah. The Chicken Nugget is almost ready for action. I just lack some rubber isolators for the exhaust mounts right now. |
